Dearest Death, Mother of Beginnings and Queen of Endings,

Hello. It's Abby. Hope you've had a nice day today.

I've been away for a bit. Or quieter than usual, I guess. Been on the road here and there, visiting some parishes around the Crownlands. A priest told me I should really get a nicer wardrobe if I'm going to be on the road and preaching at the same time. He had a point, the boots were getting tough to walk on. So I asked around if anyone might know a tailor who might work with linen and wool. I was shocked by another's generosity when they delivered to me a neatly wrapped bundle of aeterna. Free of charge, with the only caveat that they one day get to see me in the final product.

The dress is stunning. The aeterna is the purest white I've ever seen. Reminds me of winter Artshall. It never stains either, perfect for long treks or when cleaning the shrines. Although the spider webs do still cling, but I'm unsure we'll ever invent a fabric that can circumvent that.

It's been a good few weeks. I'm happy to be back in the city.

Dearest Death, Mother of Beginnings and Queen of Endings,

Hello. Hi. It's me. Sister Abby Laurent. I hope you had a good day.

Today I got to see the Valardin ward for the first time. It's very blue. The people wear a lot of armor. I haven't seen something that reminded me of home for a long time. That was very nice. I had tea, cookies and milk. Not in that precise order. But I had all of them. My Oathlander soul is satiated.

I talked to someone over this past week who I found very interesting. They knew a lot about heroes, yet set themselves on an end that was peaceful and of little note. At first I was confused. Why did this person believe in heroes yet didn't want to be one themselves, if they had the capability? The answer was simple. They wanted to end their story exactly how they like their stories to end. Uneventful and nice. Living quietly, but living well.

I'm glad I met them. We only talked for a bit but the new perspective was very nice. I hope when you see them, you'll enjoy their slice of life. I think they would like to hear that.

Anyway. That's all for me. Have a goodnight. Tomorrow, I'm going to leave a basket of apples in the rectory for someone to find. That'll be a nice treat.

Dearest Death, Queen of Endings and Mother of Beginnings,

Hello. Hi. It's me. Sister Abby. I hope you had a nice day.

I've been settling into the city nicely, I think. I really wanna go to the Valardin ward soon and visit the rest of my family. Siblings and Auntie Margerie. It's been such a long time. I hope they still remember what I look like. They probably do. Memory is reliable a good chunk of the time.

I do a lot of chores at your shrine. I like to light the candles. I like to tidy up the benches. Sometimes I say hello to the spiders. Not a lot of people seem to like spiders around here. I thought it was just an Oathlands thing, but no. Many city people don't like them either. I guess I can see why. Lots of legs and their webs are hard to get out of your hair. Oh well. I'll try to make friends with as many spiders as I can to make up for it. I hope that will make you happy.

Sometimes people come and talk to me about dying. Sometimes they talk to me about souls. I like helping people, but I'm afraid I don't always have all the answers they want. I guess it's more important to have the answers they need. I just wish they smiled a little more. It's always so dark in your shrine. Smiles light it up. Like all those grinning skulls. They're so happy.

Anyway, that's me for now. Goodbye and goodnight.

I haven't been to the city of Arx proper since I was small. It's a very loud city, bustling from top to bottom. Literally that is. On arrival I made a beeline for Death's shrine. Lovely place. The iconography being so macabre yet inspiring was more than I could have hoped for. I think I'll take a run to the market sometime soon. Gather painting supplies to add my own tributes to the wall. If permissable. That's a goal for another time, when I've settled. The Rectory is very nice also. Homely and communal.

I need to talk to somebody about spiders. I'd like to make friends with some spiders.
