I am now the proud owner of a crown of twigs with beautiful ribbons and colored on paper! I will wear it proudly. Thank you for such a wonderful prize and for the fun game!

When things get rough, and you think you are at your worst that's when you find out who cares.
I just like to say Thank you.

We have been friends for a bit of time. Perhaps for a long bit of time. I just want to say that I appreciate after all this time that I still get to learn things about you and from you. Thank you for existing.

Relationship Note on Vitalis

The treasuring of our friendship is mutual. my friendship with vitalis i unlike any other. We share scholarly pursuits and can talk about subjects of mutual interst for hours but our association is far from disapassionate intellectual. We care deeply about each other as individuals and he is one of a handful of people around which I can truly be myself

I received the most thoughtful gift. One that brings enjoyment to my whole house. Bubbles! You blow a solution through a stick and out they come. Calo laughs in delight, the dogs chase them. It really is the most thoughtful gift. From one alchemist to the next...Thank you Lord Vitalis.

The opposite of unity is strife, not freedom. If you're going to be contrary, do it right.

You people commit a lot more damn crimes with ink and quill than I ever saw a highwayman pull with a straight blade.

Relationship Note on Vitalis

Lord Vitalis has been kind enough to remind me that I have danced since my children were born. Thus, I submit this correction to my previous entry:

At last feast of summer at Eswyndol, Lord Vitalis Clement and I shared in a dance which came to an abrupt end as we nearly drowned one another. We were blessed by the presence and quick thinking of Cesare Whisper, who saved us from ourselves.

Perhaps I might be forgiven the forgetting?

I've just read your entry, Lord Clement,

While it isn't exactly an excerpt of forgotten and rediscovered lore that might interest you more, I've just made a little thing associated with my fabled ancestor. I hope you like it, even if it has somewhat of a comedic touch.

Relationship Note on Vitalis

*appended to this journal entry is a verse penned in a feminine hand*

Vellichor, in your enlightened name I pray:
Enlarge my understanding of this world;
Let me see it;
Steady me when I stand before the unknown;
Let me know it.
Edify my mind, my heart, my wits;
Let me remember it.

Vitalis Mazetti, very soon to join our House Clement, is as of this evening my protege. I'm an admirer of his for too many reasons to list. His story, however, captivates me. It takes a kind of courage to leave one family and join another, particularly when the Lyceum and the Oathlands can seem like different worlds. It is easy to stay with what is familiar; yet, in days such as these, we need diversity of thought and perspective. It keeps us strong.

Lady Adalyn and Baron Norwood Clement: you are among the best of people. Thank you for welcoming a stranger to your home. He could not be in better hands.

To Duchess Cambria Mazetti, I say with all of the love and respect that is your due: your loss is our gain. We will care for him as best we can.

Relationship Note on Vitalis

My friend. Someone who could have been more, should things have worked out with the negotiations. Instead, I let go of my hopes and expectations. It was mutually decided that it would not be. I will concentrate on my studies, my work with Ashford. It is an honor to be named General and I have much to do.

I wish to thank Lord Vitalis Mazetti for conducting Amari, Kedehern, and my Society of Explorers' tests. Especially in midst of winter, in all of the snow and cold weather. The work you put into the tests is deeply appreciated. And I look forward to getting to work with you more out in the field on SoE expeditions and business.

Relationship Note on Vitalis

Lord Vitalis Mazetti set forth a few interesting exercises in general observation for me earlier in the City Center. With so many stalls and so many people, it made for an interesting time, and potentially improving. If I have chiefly improved my observational skills with respect to the specific locale rather than in general, well, I suppose that could require further consideration. But I feel as if I am better positioned with respect to the whole of the subject matter.

Increasing a student's confidence is, on occasion, also the purview of the instructor.

My thanks to him were stated on the occasion in question, but should also be recorded here.

Vitalis, who ranges far and wide, questions (almost) everything, and stands by his friends and family even when it may be unpopular to do so, surely does his father proud.

I, for one, certainly am.

I don't want to wallow in comfort, my Lord. I want to feel it's breath upon my face.

After a battle or a diplomatic mission or just after some stressful times, comfort should not be elusive.

That's all I'm saying.

Thanks to my Pookie, however, some comfort has been restored.

Relationship Note on Vitalis

I had trouble searching through some matter and would have spent an entire day at a least had not Lord Vitalis Mazetti explained some confusion I had due to a misunderstanding of 'scale'. In attempting to compare the means by which people of Cardia record scale in maps, I ended up spending some hours reading an unrelated treatise on how to clean tools. Lord Vitalis pointed out that I had followed the wrong reference and picked up this book due to the wrong 'scale' vis. scaling of teakettles.

I comment Lord Vitalis for teaching me more about language than I knew before.

He is resourceful and dedicated. Rarely am I given a more thoroughly organized presentation. He reminds me of his father in that regard, which is a good thing. I wonder if he'll wage a war on floors someday, too.

Regardless, I know that I can rely on him to achieve results. Sometimes it's hard to find people who take pride in their work and demand the best of themselves.

Relationship Note on Vitalis

It's an interesting thing to consider. And to look at the origins of the Silent Relections and how they came to be. There are many paths that can lead one to break an oath - I would say the most tragic is when oaths come into conflict. There is a reason the Godsworn avoid the entanglement of secular life - of families, of land, of inheritence. Nothing can ever be allowed to come into conflict with our oaths to the Faith and to the Gods. There are some Silent Reflections who found this, who felt their duty to the Faith as a whole or to the Compact required them to reveal something, perhaps choosing to breach and destroy their personal honour and face the wrath that would come. But, that is only some. Others made mistakes, as people do. Others became greedy, as people can do. Others were stupid, as people sometimes are.

The punishment is severe, but it is as it must be when one breaks such sacred oaths. Even if you have good reason, that can never justify means. Both must be judged. And punishment given as required.
