Relationship Note on Samael
Not too somber. Not too peacock. Something in between.
Something that reminds people he's a lawyer. But not that he's always nose first in books.
Well that's a challenge. Good.

Relationship Note on Samael
Everyone's talking about proteges and it kind of reminded me that I finally got a patron.
Lord Samael Bisland has offered to take me under his wing and teach me about the law and stewardship. Pays me too.
I think it's a horrible deal for him. Great for me though.
(Doodles of lions prancing about in a field of grass cover the bottom of the page, each with a name tag of Bisland family members.)

I second Prince Laric. Delegation, and foist things off onto servants or assistants when you can. Carve out the time. Ten minutes here, a half hour there. And if you cannot have quantity, then ensure that you have quality. Astrid finds her way to sleep in my arms almost every evening and I would not trade that for the world.

Time is a finite resource. Do less, delegate more. 'Sleep' tends to be a natural dead area where one can easily redistribute two or three hours to more pressing matters than one's personal rest and well-being.

I wish to take a moment to acknowledge in my whites, Lord Samael Bisland. I engaged in discourse with him, curious about something he has publicly stated. We sent messengers back and forth and while others might have taken offense, had escalated and gotten themselves into a heated discord, he was civil, saw the facts for what they were and then apologized. Privately and publicly. He is the example that many should live by when it comes to living our lives day to day. To keep an open mind and not be afraid to admit when they perhaps, less than right.
I look forward whole heartedly, to sharing an afternoon of tea with him in the future and to see how the relationship between the Bisland Navy and his Grace, the Prince of Maelstrom can grow and flourish. Perhaps both can learn from one another. Thank you Lord Bisland.

Ain't thinking you be wanting over a hundred thousand people marching - could be more in the Boroughs - to the academy to find out the truth you lot be making it as. Reckon the point be made when Esra got dead. The truth be what the victors make of it, eh?

Lord Bisland:
Thank you for your attention. It's noted.
I take exception only to your phrases "a class" and "the commoners." They imply a fixed state, which does not exist given the precedent of upward mobility (I can think of half a dozen common-born nobles in the city, in various Houses), and a homogeny, which also does not exist. If I said the same about nobility, I have every expectation that half a dozen of our more avid noble journalists would fill up dozens of pages in an effort to show themselves as very different than the rest -- and thus, somehow, the same.
Besides, judge me as you will, Magistrate, but I believe calling me part of "a class" is misguided. I thought the going assumption about me was that I had no class at all!

I know few of the Bislands well, but I've been impressed in my dealings with Lord Samael thus far, and it pleases me that he seems to be taking a greater hand in his House's dealings with his vassals. I found the meeting at the renovated Bisland manse this week a productive one and it bodes well for things to come, from my viewpoint as a knight, at least.

Oh I doubt I would be worth having an in-depth conversation with on this subject. I'm no scholar. What do I disagree with? If justice is the most important objective of the Compact--not only the Compact, but society in general--then all I can say is what I've already said: you could have fooled me. It's certainly not what I would have picked if I was asked what I thought the Compact's top priority was. Or the top five, for that matter.
Maybe I misunderstood you. Did you mean what you thought it should be? If so, good fucking luck to you.
