Relationship Note on Lark

I don't write Lark often enough. Ever more evident when a swift small note to remind her that I love her apparently sent off alarms in her and scared her for a moment.

I love you Lark. You are the world to me dear sister. I swear I am not inebriated. Just ever reminded of those we still have, those we have lost and to cherish the time with them.

Few in Arvum can likely boast the same self-certainty and strength of personal conviction as the former High Lady.

I shall pray that Our Lady of Change makes easy these passing penitent days for the attainted and any others who seek to be right with the Gods over these troubling events.

Relationship Note on Lark

As a Whisper, I find it my place to comment when I see a peer of the realm conducting a breach of etiquette. As a Champion, I pay particular attention to duels of honor and the social mores that surround them, and am very outspoken about this.

Not only that, as a Devotion of Limerance, the ties of Fealty and the implications of the actions of a noble lord toward their vassals are within my sphere to comment on. My word is not law. But it does not come from nothing. I spoke nothing but truth on what the actions of your brother in refusing the challenge implied, though I admit that I may become overly passionate on occasion and as is only human, biased towards my own side by my personal feelings toward Prince Barric - personal feelings which stemmed from my interpretation of our past interactions, and which came out later, harshly and unnecessarily.

I stand by the logic and the intent of my words, though I acknowledge they were barbed. I stand by my honor. I will gladly accept any challenge to prove them before Gloria. If I am worth notice for public chastisement to my honor, why do I not have the right to defend it?

I will not be the one issuing the challenge. I was happy to leave it to House Grayson.

Either way, your brother will not receive further comment from me, and these will be my last unsolicited remarks on this whole affair.

Relationship Note on Lark

Exemplary administrative aptitude does not an infallible judge of social conduct make.

While I have the utmost respect for her highness for all that she has sacrificed so that we might thrive, to think herself a true social arbiter above and beyond the Softest Whisper is a gross overestimation of herself and her reach. While I sympathize with the sentiments of defending her brother, that she would risk the alienation of her friends and greatest admirers at Whisper House for his follies and conspiracy theories is deeply saddening, even more so when one considers that this originates with such a trivial matter as a vassal who burns bridges more quickly than he appears capable of building them.

So you feel it is better that you personally defend the honor of your brother since he refuses to do so himself? Yet you won't act out against his poor behavior and simply allow him to go forth and sullen the Grayson name, without any reprimand for turning down a lawful challenge from your vassals?

Relationship Note on Lark

I'm sorry to read that Princess Dawn's gift to Princess Lark has gone astray, for it was one of the last gowns that my mother created before her death, and her remaining works of art are few and hard to find these days.

The only Myrinda originals I still have are ... limited. A pouch she made me. An old vest she reworked for me that wasn't her original. If any of the rest of her work is still out there somewhere and not being loved and worn, I'd be willing to pay a pretty penny for it.

Relationship Note on Lark

Princess Lark Grayson, High Lady of the Crownlands,

Please accept my apologies for publicly stating that Prince Ainsley Grayson, Paladin of the Sword, gave his brother, Prince Aiden Grayson, the mantle to lead so he could seek personal glory in the battlefield. This is not what happened. Now that others have kindly reached out and corrected my initial impression, I feel the need to set the story straight. This was not an arbitrary decision to abandon his command. He labored deeply, seeking the advice from others, including Marquis Mydas Acheron. He tallied his strengths and shortfalls. He reflected on where best his skills might be served.

He made a choice to protect another rather than take a command that he was not comfortable with. He put aside his pride and with humility asked his brother to take his place, because he felt he was needed on the field. He knew his brother would do a better job in command. It takes someone with extraordinary self-awareness to recognize when they are not the best man for the job. Thank you for placing your trust in Prince Aiden Grayson. That trust was well served. My only regret is that I was not more accessible before the battle to help you on your journey of self-awareness.

House Redrain looks forward to future opportunities to join forces with House Grayson in defense of the Compact. I look forward to a continued partnership with both Princess Reese Grayson and Prince Aiden Grayson. And when our strongest foes attack our greatest assets on the field, I am comforted in knowing that Prince Ainsley Grayson is there to defend those in need.

Relationship Note on Lark

Princess Lark Grayson, High Lady of the Crownlands,

I want to thank you for the service the warriors of Grayson provided to House Redrain. Without the defense of our allied forces, Redrain would have lost more people at the Battle of Stormwall. Please consider giving Prince Aiden Grayson a commendation for his brilliant strategy on the battlefield. When his brother last minute gave him the mantle to lead so he could seek personal glory in the battlefield, Prince Aiden stood strong and did his best. My only regret is the time and effort that was spent training Prince Ainsley in matters of Northern warfare that could have been better spent on one who didn't abandon his command of the entire Grayson contingent that went to Stormwall. Prince Aiden did not have that benefit and aided the allied Compact forces showing the mettle of Grayson's might by leveraging the reports that Duke Harlan Ashford was sending from the field.

Lady Emily Deepwood stood on the beaches and provided excellent shots with her trebuchet that capsized many boats, preventing many of the enemy from reaching shore. Marquis Malesh Stonewood was badly injured by burning pitch that was launched from enemy ships at sea, but he still lives to fight another day. Count Thesarin Riven calmed panicked non-combatants who had foolishly not evacuated and stopped the crush from injuring our soldiers. Lord Michael Bisland led the defenders on the wall to push off those trying to invade the city. His quick thinking on the field saved many lives. Dame Esoka Greenblood took on a commander of the Marinites, avenging the death of my cousin, Lady Eirlys Greenmarch, who took the attack intended for Dame Esoka, giving her life. So much bravery, so much effort. Lady Rey Laveer put her healing talents to the test and saved many lives on the battlefield. Countess Mia Riven not only healed those in need but when the healing tents were taken by the enemy, she defended them with the ferocity of a warrior, almost losing her life in the process. Even craftsmen like, Rickard Corsetina, lended his hand in the battlefield to defend my people.

Reports are still coming in on how the troops are doing post battle, I will send more updates so that you are aware of the welfare of your people.

To the Last!

Relationship Note on Lark

~Written in Northlands Shav~

I received word after hearing of the proclamation from the one I called friend and named Bird Princess, She has decided to sever all ties with me and like so many others in this city that spoke words of friendship has since turned their back and abandoned me. Perhaps this is why the spirits kept me so long on the mountain alone. To weather the storm that is the city and the ways of her people. Or maybe they are simply cruel and find amusement in it. I have never before questioned the will of the spirits near as much as I do now. She seemed so different when I met her and when we would meet. I saw something different in her, and perhaps it is still there. But if it is I do not see it in this moment, In this gathering shadow of the backs that are turning against me because of my honesty with Freja. I only wish she had asked to hear my side, to know my feelings and see the truth in my eyes. I shall treasure the moments we shared and the friendship that we seemed to have. Maybe someday she will ask to know what really happened.
