It finally happened. I went some dozen straight sparring matches against Holt because I felt like I was on the edge of finally beating him. And I finally won a single match. We barely managed to walk home afterward.

Relationship Note on Holt
I went sparring with Holt again; apparently, he wants to start a group for it. I also fought against Faruq and got knocked on my arse even if I managed to stand firm for a long time. Seems like every time I think I've gotten better, someone comes and knocks me on my butt again. I met a few other people and got to chat with them. However, Holt surprised me and embarrassed me in front of everyone with a gesture I wasn't ready for.

Relationship Note on Holt
I'm still not sure how to feel about what Holt told me the other night. It's made it difficult to focus while we were sparring or while we applied to join the Crimson Blades. I'm going to have to talk to him about it, but it's embarrassing. Well, we also passed our applications even though I thought I did pretty poorly on the test.

Relationship Note on Holt
I finally got that drink with Holt, and disappointed him by revealing I don't drink the same things he does, but IT ISN'T JUST WINE FLAVORED WATER, HOLT. THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH WATERING IT DOWN A LITTLE.
Especially since he's like 10 times bigger than I am. I will never in my life understand how it is that he moves so fast. I'm never going to be able to beat him if I can't hit him! He's a terror. I shouldn't admit this, maybe. I told him I look forward to the day when he wins a contest because everyone is underestimating him, and here I am, telling his secrets. Secret: he's really, really good.
He asked me if I'd ever thought about joining the Champions, and I asked the Marquessa if it would be okay, and Lady Niamh said I could, too, so I'm going to. I'm kind of excited by it. Fighting for HONOR. Holt kept pointing out that it's for coin, too. But that doesn't sound as awesome.

Always thought I was hard to lay a finger on, come fighting, but he's two of me and I didn't smack him once. Next time the rule of the ring will be the taller one downs a full flask of spirits before we get to swinging... then I might have a chance.
