Having just returned to port, and changed out of the clothes stained with blood and salt, we were sharing some rum and fine conversation with folks at the Gold Hart. "Aye, Alyosha's a damn good singer," says Hob, and smacked his lips before he continued to gum some salted potatoes. Several of my crew nodded, and a few of the other guests who'd heard of the young sailor with the golden voice did as well. "But there's no one like Lady Ophira." Another murmur of accent passed through the sailors. My sister is a gifted singer. It wasn't what he said, but the look on his face when he said it, and there was a precarious amount of time, where I dwelt with pleasure upon the notion of ending his life.
"What about you, m'lord?" says Anne, sensing my inclination toward murder. "Gianna," says I, content to shift the tide of the conversation. Several at the table nodded. "Aye, Gianna. When we've all cast our bodies to Mangata's care, they'll think back to the songs of Nightingale, envious that we who're dead, yet lived to hear that legendary voice."
"Her dance at Braiga is one I can't ne'r forget," says Old Hob. "Aye," says Anne. "And she came in spite of Pravus's ire. She's bold as a white shark with blood in the water."
"Held herself with dignity too," says I. "Was grateful Princess Lucrezia seemed to enjoy her dance as well."
"To the Iron Kraken!" says Anne, and lifted her glass to a general toast. "Aye, Fitting the Wanton should lead the Sins' fleet," says I.
"Maybe you could get Gianna to sing fer us again next time we's home, m'lord," says Hob. "Kill more slavers," says I. "She's expensive."

It's difficult to tell if these are saddening news or good news, but as are the Queen's wishes, the cycle continues and hopefully the next chapter in your life's just as exciting and meaningful for the denizens of the Compact.
I'm at least happy to have witnessed you as a Whisper before you moved on to focus onto different pastures, miss Delvecchio.

Relationship Note on Gianna
I find it funny, if not necessarily amusing, that a house which has been declared 'great', and whose members frequently position themselves as too busy saving the world to engage in petty squabbles, dedicates so much work, time and money week after week to attacking a commoner who has dedicated her life to beautifying the Compact and spreading a tradition of story and song throughout Arvum.
I find it funny, and definitely amusing, that despite having a great house pour down their calumnies on her she still comes through unburnt, with other great houses speaking their approval of what she does, along with some of the finest institutions in the Compact. If anything, she's more beloved than she was before.
Who knew Nightingales were fireproof? Gianna, the Tempered Whisper.

I'm not prone to feeling proud. It's not that I don't have any pride per se, it's just not... a big part of my life.
But today, I feel proud. I feel proud that I know Nightingale Gianna Whisper. I'm even more proud that she's trained me herself. I'm proud that I am the Mockingbird of the Bard's college, working for her and with her.
I like to bask in her glory, entirely selfishly - but I think she might forgive me.

It always pleases me to know I've brought joy with my work, but it makes me even happier to hear Crafters praised for their endeavors as well.
You can't go wrong, collaborating with Crafters of such note and skill, respecting the artist as much as the art goes a very, very long way. I am proud of my Guild but prouder even moreso of the respect they've so rightfully earned.

Since her debut, Gianna has dazzled and inspired us with her musicality and canny adaptability. We, Arx, are better for having her. I've a deep admiration for the kind of strength she wields and frankly, am thrilled to see what she'll do next.

The mural in the Bard's College is certainly breathtaking, but for all its beauty, perhaps even more interesting for the scene it depicts than the pure craftsmanship in its creation. Something to draw every eye, and attract comment even on a second or a third viewing.
As a centerpiece, it's brilliant. But then, the Bard's College would know how to entertain.

I'm sorry it was such a short tour! But that instrument -- the chittarone, did you say it was called? -- sounded lovely! I think it's probably lovelier with more instruments, because it makes such deep notes, but it's still quite lovely.
I've spoken with Lady Iseulet about the Empyrean potentially providing services for the destruction of the Shrine and the festival around it, so she might get in touch with you! And I'm so happy that the Whisper House and the Empyrean are working together, given that you told me those instruments were donated by Lumen Whisper. Clearly, people needn't worry about any cutthroat rivalries between the two organizations.
