Relationship Note on Aksel
Met a knight in the hospital ward. He was grievously injured during the recent battle. Perhaps it is because of the duties that he must perform, but his outlook upon life is so bleak. Some might call it realistic, but I thought it was too bleak. he said that all that awaited him was a fiery death. That he has moments of happiness, but that they are always over and end. I tried cheering the man, probably giving him unwanted advice. I know that I cannot change this man's lived experiences, or the way he views his life and the world. But I ardently wish I could, to make it better even just slightly.

I did not catch the dog in question, and really only assume as I have seen dogs do this but not cats. With Arx's obsession with animal companions though, it could well have been wolf or weasel.

The Sword of Stonedeep continues to be a man of amiable company, through both light-hearted and serious conversations. I am glad for what he has shared of his personal history, and happy to have been able to aid him (I think? I hope?).

When I got to Arx I wasn't really expecting to make friends. I was just expecting to help my family defend the Compact. And I'm doing that. I've been getting training, I've been working my ass off to see myself become a stronger person so that I can serve, I've even now been in combat situations. But all of that is in part due to one person that I met during my first week in Arx.
He's sassy. He's funny. I enjoy being around him. But I also enjoy that he isn't afraid to stomp me while I train with him. He doesn't hold back on me becaues I'm tiny, because I look like I'm blind, not for anything. He goes all out and I think if he hadn't been doing that with me... I might be dead today. Because I've had to learn from each time he's knocked me out. Every time I've fought him has been a challenge and everytime I've lost been a lesson all its own.
But he has also been an encouragement to me. He's not just beating me up to beat me up. He's kind and he spares time to help me grow. Its not like he thwaps me upside the head and tells me to get back up and try again. Though... sort of that too. But when I'm having a bad day he's someone I can turn too.
And no, I'm not suffering some silly school girl crush. I'm not in love. But I have found someone I hope will be a part of my life for years to come. Someone who I want to be friends with for a long ass time because I feel respected when I interact with him.

Probably one of the only other Swords in the city that I've spent a good amount of time with, both on the training field and off.
All boots should be watched when Fluffy is around, though. I only have the one pair, and if that dog chews them....I don't know what I might do.

So, Aksel, right, he made a bet with Serafine that he could wrestle three bears at once, and Aksel is very good, so that seems doable, right?
Well, the bet was that if he lost, he had to go on a date with her - and while wearing a dress!
And guess what???
He lost! And he's in our dining room right now on a date with Serafine and in the darlingest dress!
Now you know he could have won if he wanted, so there's no other way around it - our Aksel is smitten.

Its funny how fast you can become friends with someone sometimes. It's like we've fought side by side for the last decade instead of meeting a week ago.
The fact that he is downright adorable when it comes to women is just icing on the cake. I've never seen a grown man with countless battles under his belt stammer around a woman like that. With all this talk of elves and kraken and ancient horrors, watching someone being bad at talking to girls really lightens the mood.
Best addition the north has provided to the city in a while, I'm glad he's here.
