Relationship Note on Acacia
Started a long night of drinking with Caspian.
Finished it with Acacia.
In my stubborn youth, I believed that I could stand alone, that I was strong enough to conquer my enemies with my fists and pride. Arrogance convinced me that by sheer determination, I could conquer helplessness itself. Stubborn and foolish youth, I must admit, when I look back on those years now, I see quite clearly that rarely did I stand alone and rarely did I have to stand alone. Always there were friends, true and dear, lending me support even when I believed I did not want it, and even when I did not realize they were doing it. Felicia, Giulio, Sigurd, Caspian, Acacia, Valencia... a few of the names that come to mind when I think on this, and a smile spreads across my face.
I've come to know strengths of community, not the paranoia of selfish individualism.
Greater indeed are pleasures that are shared.
Thank you for being there last night, Thanks for being there the last time I nearly fell into the docks. Thanks for making sure I was ok, and that I didn't end up sleeping in an alley somewhere.

I miss Rose Red. I was thinking of her today when I went to the Trader's Tavern. Such a cute little establishment and the people are so nice.

An interesting woman stepped into my shop today. Red-haired, with a rubicund blade she wanted me to look at, to sharpen, to tend to. I did as best I could and I learned her name is Acacia Culler. The Acacia Culler, the mirrorguard who served as the former Archduke's bodyguard during the Siege.

I happened to meet Goodwoman Acacia Culler recently. A conversation was had that has stuck with me for a few days now. Questions of moral obligation and duty to one's fellows, sentiments that unexpectedly carried over into a meeting with Prince Venteri, the marin'alfar emissary that has been in Arx now for a while. While my meeting with the Prince was disappointingly unproductive, it was deeply gratifying to have met him.

I'm thinking about getting some singing lessons. Acacia Culler hurt my feelings very deeply when I suggested I could offer a night with a different sort of songbird.

She's wickedly clever. That can be said without a single qualification needed due to her background and station in life. I never thought I would see the day that someone outsmarted Niccolo, yet that business with the sauce and the dare was brilliant.
I think the family and the Compact as a whole should be afraid if she and I figure out how to work together.
