At a time that the Compact needs to work together more than ever before comes those who would tear it apart for their own petty squabbles. Although perhaps to them these are not such petty things. Even so, it is still disheartening.

Lady Reigna's work and aid in helping with the injured Lady Miranda will not be forgotten.
Perhaps I may need to refrain from delivering headbutts when sparring with my cousin in the future to avoid a repeat of this.

From my meeting with her it is clear that Lady Beatrice Malspero has a sharp mind for details and asking relevant questions. She also seems to have a sly sense of humour. Definitely someone work having as a friend and ally.

So we have Emissaries from differing Empires approaching the Compact and making various offers of 'protection'. As far as I am concerned the Compact does not need the protection of other powers. With that in mind I will do what Malvici always do... prepare for war.

I have successfully led naval operations of over a dozen Malvici ships before to great effect. I have studied and practiced the theory of operating many more. A joint naval exercise between different Houses would be ideal if I could get the support.

My cousin is mistaken. I do not like to hurt people. It is a necessary part though of who I am though and I am exceedingly good at it. Hopefully she will learn that just having a very fine weapon is not enough. Focus. Footwork. Practice your strikes. Maybe next time you may land a tellng blow?

It seems my Cousin is nearly as dangerous with a dagger as she is with her sabre. Again a spar with her leaves us both breathless and barely able to stand.

How many ships should one command before they be granted the rank of Admiral? Should it be a fixed number or a certain portion of a House's naval forces?

Relationship Note on Fiora
So my cousin, or 'distant cousin' as she prefers to be called has returned to Arx. This is an interesting and welcome development. I've seen her in action with the bow and am mightily impressed by her skill. No wonder she is our archer commander. I must coordinate with her some sort of training exercise to see if we can maximise the effectiveness of archers in sea battles.

I am most proud of both Kaia and Neilda in regards to their combat training. Kaia quickly picked up the necessary skills to hold and swing a sword with competence and Neilda both demonstrated continued improvements in her skills as well as passing on further ones to Kaia. Well done to both of them.

I got to see my protege test her skills and training in actual combat.
They might not have been proper soldiers that we were facing but there was still a credible threat and she did herself proud.

Relationship Note on Samuele
It is strange how quickly friendships can form for me nowadays. Samuele Rubino has definitely made an impact on my life in the City both with conversations, sober or otherwise, and him demonstrating how painful that huge sword of his can be. Someone that I'd always prefer as a friend rather than a foe, after all, if that's how brutal he can be with his friends I would dread to think what happens to those who earn his ire.
