Saedrus says that I'm a zinnia. I don't really remember what flower that is, but I trust him.

No, wait, now he's saying maybe a sword lily. I don't know those, either. He's still thinking. I might have accidentally caused a _thing_.

I think a better source of our praise and respect would be High Lord Victus for refusing to accept such methods as necessary, honorable, or worthy of respect. You only have to look back as far as Prince Abbas's removal from his position as Warlord of Thrax to see just how "necessary" his actions were in the eyes of his liege lord.

Relationship Note on Edward

I'll wait for the proof of the Nox'alfar negotiating in bad faith after we broke our own treaty. Don't worry, I've got a whole bottle of whiskey with me. It'll last a while.

The latest Nox'alfar marriage was one of a long line of them over several centuries. So, I mean, the idea that they tried to destroy the Compact and then set up a marriage instead is just...what? Listen, the Nox can be crazy and make people super uncomfortable, but the idea that they're infiltrating our society instead of just renewing a practice that already existed for five hundred years is...odd. They haven't been trying to destroy the Compact??

We broke our treaty with them. Because we were misled, yes, and it was a horrific tragedy, but we're not in much position to demand they try to earn our trust back. We interrupted their most sacred ritual and made them vulnerable to total annihilation by doing so. Like, we threatened the survival of their entire race. And yet they gave us multiple chances to reopen negotiations with them. The first time, it didn't go well, and they left insulted. The second, the new treaty was made.

The idea that the Nox'alfar were in liege with Brand or the Silence is super ridiculously false, because they're actually the mortal enemy of the agents of the Silence and Oblivion. The destruction of the Nox'alfar was the _literal purpose_ of agents manipulating the Compact into breaking our treaty.

So, like, if you want to be uncomfortable, just be accurate about it.

Relationship Note on Nierzen

Good gods. They're definitely not _Brand's_ Nox elves. Brand wanted very, very much to murder the fuck out of the Nox'alfar. They were not fighting with him.

Relationship Note on Killian

I always knew that Killian would get himself killed.

I've never been particularly safe myself, but Killian even tested _my_ limits. I can recall being actively boggled several times by the fact that _I_ was telling someone to _please maybe not do that ridiculously unsafe thing_. But that was Killian. When he felt there was something that needed doing to help protect others, he just...did it. That was the core of him.

Killian was the person you knew would write back with an immediate and unconditional yes if you ever asked him for help. He stood with me at one of the hardest fights I've ever faced, and that connection between us never faded, no matter anything else that happened.

I'll miss you, you big, brave idiot.

Relationship Note on Zhayla

How do I start this?

I said a lot of it at the funeral. How Zhayla was my friend. How she was funny, and warm, and fierce, and dorky. How she wanted to be a hero. How she wanted to help people.

How she wished that there existed a possibility for her father to be redeemed, but how she refused to bend the knee to him or offer him forgiveness. How she went to her death defiant against the Abyss. A hero. Like she always wanted.

She came to me before a recent trip to Stormward. She was worried about going back to the Isles, but at the same time, she couldn't even consider the possibility of _not_ going. There were people to help, after all. And that's probably the purest sense of _Zhayla_ I can offer. She put others before herself, every single time.

I'll miss her every single day for the rest of my life.

No, I am not bitter that he didn't get chosen for that plushie contest! Honestly how dare you. I am telling the Archscholar on you. Yes, the Archscholar _does_ listen to what I say!

Relationship Note on Caras

I wish Brother Caras every success as he returns to the pilgrimage to heed the call of Gild, where I know he's done much good over the years. I only regret that he's let his confusion over events bring him to attack his family of the Faith.

Still, I'm very secure in the actions of the Liberators as I hear the reports from the Mourning Isles about how our careful diligence was rewarded with a lack of devastation to the economy of the Thrax houses. That the money we paid is now being used to to hire free workers. That, despite the insistence of some, the actions of the Liberators in freeing those five thousand souls did not offer any economic devastation. We made our selections very carefully across all the houses of the Mourning Isles and freed less than a single percent of those current enthralled. We managed to do so with enough care to avoid violence or upheaval. That I'm now being accused of targeting a single house for the purpose of punishing them is unfortunate, but I think the reality is clear to anyone who has paid attention to the actual reactions from the Isles. I can't help those who dream up a different one just to call me a villain.

With the support and generosity of those who donated to the cause and participated in the Freedom art show charity auction, the Liberators of Skald have been able to begin their new ministry of offering aid and support to those returning to lives of liberty by securing the freedom of some five thousand thralls from across the Mourning Isles. While some have chosen to remain in different parishes of the Isles, and some have chosen to relocate to other areas of the Compact, a full four thousand souls have recognized the commitment to freedom displayed by House Deepwood and have chosen to start new lives in Old Oak.

I would like to personally thank those Liberators and other members of the Faith for their diligence and effort to make all of this possible: Liberator Mason, Liberator Saedrus, Liberator Samantha, Liberator Ferrando, and Seraph Ailith. I would also like to thank Master Fortunato Grayhope and our anonymous artist for their donations of such remarkable paintings to help fund the cause. And, of course, thank you to each and every person who donated silver in amounts both large and small. Every act of charity of any size is a blessed one.

This is just the beginning. The Faith will continue to assist any and all people returning to lives of freedom to offer the support and assistance they need to begin this new stage in their lives.

Until every chain is broken. Thank you.
