Relationship Note on Valencia
Having first met this Redrain Princess at the Ambassador's before the King's Rest, Maximilian isn't sure what to think of her. Announcing that there was far too much decorum in the capital for her liking, and giving her desire that he was as dreadful as the name Count Darkwater suggested, he feels around the woman he can really be the unkind man he truly is.

Alda's daughter is feisty. I can see why Carlotta thought she might thrive with Redrain. You would think Valencia would see the opportunity there, but I either she doesn't or she likes to pretend she doesn't. I'm admittedly not sure which it is yet. She is shrewd, she is smart, she is passionate though and sometimes prone to rash decisions. Still, she is family, and I do care for her, even if she can't quite see it yet.

I really can't imagine how Valencia manages to always seem so calm and happy when we all know she has to return to that hairy beast of a Notherner husband every night. It makes me shudder just to think of it, shudder and make sure I'm valuable enough to the family that nobody is ever tempted to marry me off like that.

Relationship Note on Valencia
She comes from the south, but she's one of us all the same, even with her customs and lavishness. I enjoy that; she proves you can balance both worlds, the court and home in the cold, and she's easy enough to talk to even if she chides.
