Relationship Note on Talen

Beast. There is a reason I call him this though I'm not particularly sure when it started. Perhaps it was the day we ran into each other in the park and he was running around the placid reflection pond in his tight leathers as a way to exercise. Or when he asked me to meet him at the Shrine of the Thirteenth where we engaged in a soul gripping conversation about life. Or the frenzied manner in which he fights.

Most likely it is the gift he gave me, bound in leather. A gift from one friend to another. He seems to understand me and I him, but it is said those who think similarly often collide. Communication isn't always our strong suit. I may resort to sketching stick figures next time we find ourself at odds.

Relationship Note on Talen

I'm sure the fight would have lasted longer if I'd brought all of my armor. All the same; he's quite skilled, but that's something I expected. You don't become a Sword without skill.

Likes to stir the pot, though.

Relationship Note on Talen

The Sword of Lenosia is quite formidable with, well, a sword. I've seen him in action multiple times, and had the delightful opportunity to witness his skill up and close during the Grayson melee. It's not uncommon to see him accompanying a member of the Velenosa family out to various gatherings. Funny, quick witted, it's always a welcome sight to see him around.

Relationship Note on Talen

Talen Artiglio, the Sword of Lenosia and the prime protector of the Velenosa royalty. His devotion to them is clear, and it speaks well of his character but... Look, I understand that when it comes to a real fight, you protect your charge at any cost, and this requires a certain ruthless instinct, but seeing him willing to to such levels in even friendly contests just grates on me. Also I have seen him fight, and even crossed swords with him in a Grand Melee and it is clear to me that the man is a better fighter than I am. I am ashamed of my own pettiness but by the Gods admitting that bothers me deeply, more than it should.

Relationship Note on Talen

Sword of Lenosia, Master Talen Artiglio, once said that he would love to get to know other cultures. I admire his wish. It shows how understanding and tolerant the man can be dispite of cultural differences. His behaviour in public suggests that Sword of Lenosia is worth being noble more than some of the nobles who were born to be nobles.

Relationship Note on Talen

So perhaps I did offer a harmless stabbing upon our first meeting, after all it was only an olive fork.... Luckily this charming Sword took it in the good humor it was meant and has become someone I look forward to play many more games with.

Relationship Note on Talen

Honey and vinegar. He offers me lessons in 'Southern social warfare', and I give him a few in return from my own line of work, scouting. He arrived for a lesson in stealth...in steel. A source of amusement, though I do not think he realizes it, while also a good counter for banter. I like him. He is what he presents, unapologetically so. Tit fot tat, I will have to glean more. The prize requested in the form of -that- information surprised even me...

Relationship Note on Talen

I should be far more wary of a man who provokes with purpose, especially when I haven't yet determined what that purpose is. Whether it's driven by whim or design and forethought, or a mixture of all. It would be good to know which way he leans. But all things in time and it's a pleasant novelty to not know what to expect at any given moment when in his company.

Yes, even when he's tweaking my nose with his little games.

Relationship Note on Talen

Master Talen, Sword of Lenosia, is talented warrior who deserves the title he's inherited and the favor he curries. He may also be more competitive than even I am, and seems capable of doing whatever is necessary to secure a win, even at the expense of his honor. Regardless of my feelings on that matter, I suspect I will have to get used to it if I ever intend to be victorious in any of our future match-ups.

Relationship Note on Talen

As good as a noble by how he dresses and the company he keeps. He spoke to me at the archery competition, there at the finals. Gave me some advise. I've never been one for the big crowds, myself. Asked about me, too. Perhaps he'll be coming to get some business at my store. If not, well, I have no desire to be embroiled with them nobles. I'm just an honest member of the Crafters Guild, I am.

Relationship Note on Talen

Velenosan Ward. Sword of Lenosia. Talen Artiglio is a staunchly loyal servant to the Velenosan family, and by proxy, I've grown well-acquainted with the man through my interactions with them. Frightfully skilled with the blades he wields, and unapologetically allergic to failure and defeat, but chivalarous and delightfully charming all in his own right - except, of course, when one mentions his less than stellar treatment of his horses.

Then, he is a lost cause and one simply cannot begrudge him for seeing them as naught but another tool to be utilized to accomplish a task. Or, to find beauty and appreciation in all things not draped in exquisite finery and ostentatious trimmings he's been surrounded with all his life in the South - natural beauty, as it were, bores him. Despite this, I find myself growing rather fond of his company when we manage to catch each other now and then.

Relationship Note on Talen

Long before Talen was my Sword, he was my friend -- when I was still a princess, and he a Ward of House Velenosa. Poor boy, trapped between two worlds. Higher than a servant, less than a noble. Tormented and twisted by both. He belonged to neither -- now he belongs to me. I am his liege: my life and heart are his to protect.

Relationship Note on Talen

I highly suspect Talen may actually have some noble blood somewhere in his lineage. He's not perfect of course, too crass, to apolitic, and too unaware of the importance of appearances to be a true born noble, yet he has more noble qualities than many others I've met in this city of pure blood. He's brave, capable, intelligent, loyal, willing to sacrifice and make hard choices for his house, and has a sharp wit when he chooses to use it. I quite enjoy his company, and his bladework. I still do not think a commoner should be given an ancestral blade, but I will admit I'm somewhat jealous of my cousin, the Archduchess Esera, for securing his services none the less.

Relationship Note on Talen

It was proposed by the Sword of Lenosia that in lieu of my atrocious riding, I should simply stand on the ground and thrust my spear at the relevant moment and thus joust in that manner. Not sure if this is a brilliant idea or a means for his own amusement. I will note that his strikes are surprisingly potent despite our difference in size and muscle, and I would be loath to face him in single combat again. A gracious winner and potentially a wise man. Good company if I can keep his sword pointed the other way.

Relationship Note on Talen

Perhaps unexpectedly, the Sword of Lenosia contains far greater depth of personality than I first gave him credit for. He served me wine one night at the dinner table in the Velenosan estate, only to watch him cheat at Lady Calista Fidante's tourney. I was furious and felt betrayed, certain he was the most dishonorable man I've ever met. Later, he explained it was only a misunderstanding; where he comes from, Talen would be expected to do all in his power to win. After speaking with him further, I've begun to believe him. I have since realized Talen Artiglio is not only chivalrous, he is quite the charming man.

Relationship Note on Talen

Master Talen Artiglio, ward of House Velenosa and sword of Lenosia. Now this is an interesting man. For one, he's very skilled in the art of war and battle and yet he chose to cheat at a tournament. There was no real reason to do it other than to let others know he's capable of such. I'm led to believe this is precisely what he was setting out to do. He also enjoys sending philosophical messengers. I do wonder what else goes on in that head of his.

Relationship Note on Talen

This one is always calm and collected. I can appreciate that, even if I wonder if he's always. . .oh, wait. Esera named him the Sword, that's why people were hinting I should fight him. Forget that. He'll do a good job. I'd have to find my sword to fight him, anyway.

Relationship Note on Talen

I heard him speak to me, I must confess. I wanted to reply, to speak to him and wonder at the things he may have offered. There is always room to learn, for a warrior. Perhaps he and I would have traded thoughts on the events of the evening, or perhaps he was simply being amiable because he should, in events where his employer is hosting. None the less, I feel that he is due some idle banter if nothing. Another time, perhaps.
