An old friend from our Lenosia days. She is different in some ways now that we've reconnected - finally - in Arx but deep down she is the same person I knew and befriended all those years ago. She is wed to Talen, who is now a prince. They have an interesting relationship.

It never fails.
Siege or rain or war or peacetime, since discovering my work the Princess Eleyna Velenosa has swept into my shop on the 13th of every month, an uncharacteristically pleased smile on her face (at least so I hear; they say she's icy to most but she's only been kind to me). She saunters to my bench if I'm working, or the counter if I'm working there, or if I have a client, she sits demurely on my couch, sips tea and looks through my book of ready-made designs.
When we're alone, she says the same thing:
"Mistress Arterius. Will you reconsider my offer of patronage? It would be such an honor."
And I reply with the same:
"Your highness, I am the Guildmaster; we have no patrons because that would lead many to speculate a bias. But there are many fine jewelers in the Guild, I'd be happy to set up an interview or two for you."
Then the woman flicks those blue eyes at me, like I've just said the most amusing thing ever, shakes her head and that smile grows like a creeping glacier.
"No, but thank you; you're the only jeweler I want on my retinue."
It's like a script in some tiny play, never deviates until she tells me 'no thank you', and then we speak of projects she'd like to complete with me, or the weather, or .... anything else that comes to play. And then, after another cup of tea, she bids me good day, that she'll see me next month, and heads out the door.
Today played out like the months before, though she seems more amused this time. Perhaps she thinks she's winning.

Relationship Note on Eleyna
When I ask for aid, I never expect a response. I mean, I hope for one, but it's not expected; that would be rude and a setup for disappointment. I hope for the best but expect the worst, a lesson I've learned quickly as Guildmaster and one that's proven to be wise.
When I asked Princess Eleyna for extra supplies for the healers, I gave her a list of things: clean scraps of cloth, silk thread, lye soap, honey, lye soap with honey, medicinal herbs.
Not four hours pass and I receive several large crates of almond-honey lye soap. Such soap in its basic form can be found easily and a necessity for many, but with the honey mixed in it's a boon to a hospital trying to do its best to keep the humors of its patients clear and strong.
No few people may find her generosity surprising, but I've never known her to be anything else. My deepest gratitudes to her.
As a side note, if you have such things to donate please send me a message, every little bit helps. I will come by in person if need be. The thread must be silk, as it doesn't snag like wool or cotton does when sewn to flesh. Bandages can be made of many kinds of cloth, from linen to cotton to silk, and if it's not wide enough or as absorbent, I'm sure it can be used to hold dressings into place.

Relationship Note on Eleyna
Princess Eleyna is rather magnificent. She has that sharp-edged presence that I've come to expect from Velenosa, but hers is well-honed and ... kind of delightful. I had heard word that she was quick-witted, but I was still pleasantly surprised by how adept she truly is. She'll be one to watch. Perhaps one to fear.
