Relationship Note on Barric
I first met the Sword of Bastion at a brawl my family hosted. He didn't hold back his punches, something I most appreciated! It's the only way you can get any better, after all. When it comes to politics, we seem to be of a similar mind: no thanks. So we serve our families in our own ways, and can manage a drink without insufferable formalities. He is a most excellent sparring partner, and I hope our friendship will strengthen the ties of our great houses.

The brunch and punch was fun. Who doesn't like food and brawling? I remember drinking more than I actually ate, though. Viktarkim has an impressive upper cut, and I think my face is still sore from being hit by Prince Barric. My only regret is that I didn't get to beat up Darren. I'm coming for you next time, brother. Or I'll just shoot you with an arrow when you least expect it! Which, by now, should be always. Anyway. There were all sorts of wonderful faces there, and I just hope more people will participate next time!

Today I learned that saunas make my hair unbearable, even for me, and that I am comfortable only where I can drink whatever I please. I quite enjoy beach bonfires and rousing stories, though. There were so many stars. And so much sand in my boots the day after. Worth it, though.

Relationship Note on Talen
The Sword of Lenosia is quite formidable with, well, a sword. I've seen him in action multiple times, and had the delightful opportunity to witness his skill up and close during the Grayson melee. It's not uncommon to see him accompanying a member of the Velenosa family out to various gatherings. Funny, quick witted, it's always a welcome sight to see him around.

There wasn't much time to decide in the melee held by House Grayson. With a whole team piling onto Darren, that's where my focus went first. Much of the rest of the fight was spent on defense. I had hoped we would win, of course, but I've learned not to expect anything. I'll happily take fourth, and continue to insist my preference is ranged fighting anyway. Overall, I had so much fun, even with all the blood and bruises in the aftermath. The whole field was filled with such fierceness and skill from every competitor! I'm glad to have fought alongside my brother and Brianna. I think, with some further practice, we'll make an even more formidable team. And since it couldn't be us in the end? I'm glad it was Luca left standing. He's an absolute whirlwind with that blade. It's very attractive.

Relationship Note on Brianna
Lady Brianna seems to have a good head on her shoulders, her priorites in order, a clever sense of humor, and apparently does not want to see my brother unclothed like the rest of the populace. This is a relief. I hope we will get along wonderfully. We can get used to living here in the south without letting it devour every bit of who we are.

Relationship Note on Dawn
It's such a relief to see that Lady Dawn isn't too burdened with responsibility to have fun on a hunt. I hope that she, Ophelia, and I will be able to venture out again sometime in the near future to ride and let our arrows fly free. The situation with her brother is a difficult one, and I hope we have an opportunity to discuss what happened soon. I've sworn to avenge my father's death, and I imagine she has just as much interest in seeing justice served.

Relationship Note on Edain
Prince Edain might be one of the most genuinely good people I know. He's nice, funny, and incredibly resilient for having so much responsibility thrown his way. Always polite, but he never gives me a hard time about my absolute disdain of southern formality. Along with Sir Arugula, he's fast and furious, not to mention skilled with a blade. I respect him a great deal, and I'm glad to call him a friend. I wish the world didn't hang so heavy on his shoulders. It's good to see him smile.

Part of the fun of the 'usual' hunting I engage in is actually tracking the creature in the wild, because sometimes you'll never know what you'll find, and surprises are the best. But I can do that any day! The boar hunt hosted by the Valardin - Prince Edain and Princess Malorie - was very enjoyable, and had great company involved to chase the beast down. Princess Ophelia is terrifying with a bow, as always, and Lady Dawn has quite a knack for it too. Those who managed to hit the thing up and close were pretty impressive, because that thing was on the move! I managed to land the killing shot, and received a bracelet out of the tusks afterward. All in all, it was a blast to spend the time outdoors and see people in a different light.

Relationship Note on Lydia
Lady Lydia Nightgold has been in service to our family for, well, it feels like a while now. I'm not one for fashion or hair or any of those things, as I actively try to avoid spending time on them, but she's been there to help avoid a catastrophe and make sure I don't waltz around in anything ripped. She seems to be enjoying the city a great deal, and I'm glad. I hope to have her help keeping our house active and engaged in society, because I sure as hell can't stand organizing things myself.

Relationship Note on Ophelia
Princess Ophelia is an excellent archer. She skewered a bird mid-flight during that competition! Way better than actually hitting the target, in my opinion. One day that hunt will actually happen so we can all see more of that action. I'd like to think we'll get along really well, I just wish she'd stop asking me questions about her brother. He's fine!

Father was a busy man, but he always took the time to enjoy a good feast and get to know the people around him. Party planning is not a joy of mine (and -never- will be), but things seemed to go fairly well at the Northern Feast I held at our villa. There was plenty of dancing, drink, and even almost a good fight. Almost. Next time? Bear wrestling. All in all? A pretty damn good night, as far as I'm concerned.

Relationship Note on Rohkir
Cousin Rohkir is a new arrival to Arx, but seems to be settling in quite well and comfortably. It's not uncommon to see him out and about at various taverns or social functions. I just hope he remembers to relax from time to time. Gods know I find social niceties exhausting.

Relationship Note on Esera
Once upon a time, High King Alaric confused Princess Esera and I on a tour of the palace. We couldn't look or behave any less alike, but it was great fun letting him go on as he did. It was the start of a beautiful friendship, and hopefully positive ties between North and South. It's hard, losing a parent under such mysterious circumstances as we did. I know she shares the same, aching pain.

Relationship Note on Edain
High Lord Edain Valardin has a lot on his plate. Unexpected death dumped leadership of the Valardin into his lap, just like it did to my brother. He's very nice, noble and gracious, and deserves to smile and relax every now and then. I've made it my personal mission to make this knight let his hair down every once in a while. Shadow is a lot faster than Sir Arugula, but I try not to rub it in his face. I can't help that Redrain horses are so agile.

Relationship Note on Valencia
Valencia is refined and clever, which is only natural as she married out of House Velenosa and into our family. It's really such a shame that Angus died so soon. They even seemed to get along! She might be the complete opposite of what most expect from a stereotypical northerner, but it feels like she fits right in among the Redrain.
