'Not now' 'Not now' 'Not now' repeats over and over again the crowd who don't think we should abolish thralldom as part of Brass' deal. When? How? You stand against the morally right thing. You say no but you don't say any alternative. If you are serious about abolishing thralldom then convince your house to propose a plan at the next Assembly of Peers to abolish thralldom within this generation or put your pen down.

There are a lot of people who are writing 'We can't abolish thralldom, it will be a disaster. We can't financially support it.' I even had a long debate with Lore over it. Maybe they are right. Maybe there will be a lot of pain if we abolish Thralldom. Accepting everything that they say, even the more outlandish ones like the collapse of some houses, I'd like to argue that it's still necessary.
All this precious financial stability that people want to keep has been built on the backs of slaves. Every day Thralldom continues is a day of ill gotten gains by The Mourning Isles. If financial stability of The Mourning Isles is based upon slavery, then it is undeserved stability. The Mourning Isles, if it wishes to be true to the laws of the land and the guidance of the gods, they HAVE to abolish thralldom. The only reason The Compact has so far turned a blind eye to the slavery of The Mourning Isles is because war would be required to stop it, and The Mourning Isles has a tactical advantage in that it is a series of islands and requires a strong navy to invade.
But now we face a situation where we can't ignore it anymore. We have a choice of accepting foreign rule, face the threats of the world alone, or accept Brass' help and do a hard, but morally right choice. I ask the High Lords to do the right thing, and vote to accept Brass' offer.

You can probably guess what I think the best course of action is, but I think it's accepting Brass' help. Metallics are already trustworthy and powerful, and we need powerful allies to face the coming threats. Add into that abolishing Thralldom is the morally right choice regardless of what is offered in exchange. I think accepting Brass's help is clearly the morally right and logical choice.

I've been extra lazy lately. I need to get out and do something. Maybe I should hold another tournament while I wait for the one I'm currently running to finish. What do people think? If there is any theme you'd like to see, let me know. Though I'd need to figure out a prize, people love prizes. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know.

Relationship Note on Bashira
I remember when our parents died that one winter so many years ago. We both cried for what felt like days. You weren't that younger then I was, but I swore I would take care of you. But we ended up taking care of each other. It took me until this moment to stop telling myself I didn't take care of you. That I let this happen to you. You were doing what you thought was the right thing to do.

I've received a lot of messages of condolences for my lost. I want to say thank you to all those who have written to me, I've received over a dozen letters and am still getting more each day. And my condolences to those who have lost members of their own family.

Regret is something I don't often feel. Usually I just let things roll off my back. But with Bashira dying, I feel a lot of regret. I regret not spending more time with her, I regret leaving her when I went off to become a hired blade. I regret letting her move to Arx. She died valiently, but that is cold comfort to not having her here anymore.

Because I want it written down so that I or anyone else can never forget this, two days ago Sable saved my life and died while doing it. When I was climbing down from a tree an arrow was shot at me by a cultist and she pushed me out of the way and took the arrow straight to the heart. I'm thankful for what she did, and find a little comfort that in her heroic act she died without suffering.

The death of Oliver Arterius is disturbing, for thralls and Arx as a whole. I hope for the safety of my family and all former Thralls that the killer is caught. I know my hand will be kept close to my knife. I've gained too much to lose it all so soon.

Relationship Note on Darrow
Darrow was not my patron for very long, in the grand scheme of things. We were only just beginning to get to know each other when the man died. In fact, I remember the last thing we ever talked about was Abbas after he was denobled, in where I pissed him off; he seemed to think Abbas was not given the respect he deserved.
Since I learned about the effort to get his statue built, I've been working hard towards the effort. And now we are almost there. His bravery inspired me, and I want people to remember him for his bravery.

Relationship Note on Donella
Are we all praising Princess Donella? I've said it before and I'll say it again, this woman is my savior. She whisked me away from the bonds of slavery into glorious freedom. I would not be who I am today without her. I would have been another Thrall working the docks of Maelstrom or plowing it's fields. She will always have my gratitude.

So my birthday party was pretty fun. Not many people showed up to joust, so had a wrestling tournament instead. That went pretty well! I wonder what I should do for my party next year.
