Relationship Note on Calypso

I like this Lady General. She is hard working but she is also good company over drinking or sparring. I hope she will keep me in mind when she has need of scouts in the coming actions, if my House permits.

Relationship Note on Calypso

Lady General Calypso is a delight. How else can one say it? We have so little in common, but what we do, a determination and passion to protect the ones we love, is transcendant. I haven't played Chess in some time, and hopefully our gaming dates will continue. I might even forgive her brother for running off on some adventure without me, for her sake.

Relationship Note on Calypso

Adona's daughter, the competent one. Not that her brother the serving Duke isn't competent. He just doesn't have the skills for the 'family business' his younger sister does. She's a worthy leader, but I'll still override her if it's in regards to my field. I doubt she'd question me though...

Relationship Note on Calypso

I did not expect to like her so much or weirdly and oddly to have so many common thoughts with her. As it stands, I do and it is fabulous. Of course, now I must get all new stuff. I'm getting some leather armor I think in just the right winter tones.

Relationship Note on Calypso

I remember her when she was much younger, eschewing the typical pastimes of young noblewomen for an intense interest in the arts of war. With time, she has become more refined and confident in her power, as a commander and otherwise, but I do not believe she has ever lost that core of strength and passion. It is good to see.

Relationship Note on Calypso

The last time I fought a noblewoman, I was living in this city doing my best to not be what I was. She knocked me on my ass, then, but eh, gotta have someone to aspire to, aye?

General Calypso put up a good fight, I can't remember the last time I came up against an even match as her. I look forward to rollin' in the sands again, and if it's with her, I wouldn't that either.

Relationship Note on Calypso

I met this Lady of War at a chance passing by through the training center. It came to be that we were both invited to Princess Natalia's fashion..meet..and..something. I was happy to have someone to sit beside that shares my same fashion of war, or lack thereof.

She has a quick mind and it makes me wonder if her blades are just as quick. The Lady looks like she could be my Southern counterpart, and I will be surprised if we become anything but fast friends.

Relationship Note on Calypso

I had the opportunity to meet Calypso Malvici recently and it was an eye opening experience. She certainly affects the typical fashion of the Lyceum (though a bit more? functional I guess in the right word), but when I spoke with her I was surprised to find a woman of military discipline, with the gravitas of a veteran officer. She is someone that Princess Marian might actually like, which believe me is a rare thing. I think she will be a general to watch in the future. We could use more of those in these dark days.

Relationship Note on Calypso

Lady General Calypso Malvici is a woman quite unique. I have enjoyed her company on more than one occasion now, and hope that there are many more opportunities yet to come. She has been kind enough to offer to teach me the how not to maim myself with a blade; I feel that is proof enough of the woman's patience and bravery. And even though I do not see myself being the next great sword fighter, I can foresee how I might integrate what she teaches me into dance.

Relationship Note on Calypso

Tonight I had a very enjoyable fight with Lady General Calypso Malvici. She did me the honor of fighting unarmored as I have yet to obtain a good working set of armor since my arrival in Arx, and we were very well-matched in the pit. I hope we will get to cross blades again sometime soon.

There is both grace and strength to her motion. The Blacktongue annoyed her the other day by calling her Sunshine, and I can see why she was annoyed, yet I can guess a few ways for a poet to make the moniker fit: sunlight is blinding when it reflects off fresh snow, inspiring when it gleams off new steel, and I'm not a poet, so I can't remember where I was going with this, but the point is, it doesn't have to be an insult.

The point is, she moves well, and I think there is much value to keeping in form with a partner who can keep you on your toes. I may have prevailed this time, but I'm pretty sure I just got lucky.

Relationship Note on Calypso

Lady General Malvici - another veteran fighter though I saw Prince Fergus hand her ass to her as soundly as he thrashed me, in the Training Center. She took her licks with grace, fought hard, didn't whine when she'd been beaten as bloody as myself. I respect that and I think I like her.

Relationship Note on Calypso

Lady General Calypso Malvici. She's much like myself, doesn't beat around the bush, says or asks exactly what she wants to have said or asked. We first met in the training center and she asked if I led the Redrain armies, I informed her I was the Sword, and a warrior more than a leader of armies. She then wanted to test just how good of a warrior I was. She lost, but took a fair deal of damage. Probably someone I should look up in the future for an interesting conversation.

Relationship Note on Calypso

Calypso Malvici is the kind of woman that breaks lesser men on the adamant surfaces of her sword and shield. I, however, have figured that I shall not be just another suitor chasing her with sweet words and gifts. Or a suitor at all really; people who value Calypso Malvici as simply the object of a political marriage to a family that commands the largest army in the Lyceum would be sorely mistaken. Especially since she's the one who commands that army personally. Having understood her needs and strengths - martial rather than marital - I've offered my services to help her house obtain business and contracts for their wine and other mercantile interests. It bores her; it is an interesting challenge for me. Perhaps this will be a fruitful relationship.

Relationship Note on Calypso

Calypso, Hadrian's older sister.

Growing up, we were not often in contact with one another. She was so thoroughly determined to transform the soldiers of Southport into her extended family and I with my eyes on an entirely different martial prize that we rarely had cause to interact. I recall her as a sombre young woman, however, endlessly re-enacting past battles, always looking for things that could have been done differently. Better.

There was a time when I wished my brother would have married her. They seemed more suited to one another than any other young woman that I could imagine at the time. Bear in mind I was very young, and notions of fancy - such as marrying far above our modest rank as well as riding high upon the back of a dragon - were not unfamiliar to me.

It is good that Calypso is here in Arx. She is a grounded and stable individual, and will do both the Duke and House Malvici proud.

Relationship Note on Calypso

There rough stones, that once polished turn into the most radiant gemstones. The Lady looks as though she is working backwards. Gorgeous, gracious with her presence and kind words, yes, but still the 'tough' 'tude looks more an act than I could write. She is a good wine-pusher, when someone else isn't trying to push it for her or tell her how to market her own product. She may have called that a smirk, but I think that is the only way she knows how to smile.

Relationship Note on Calypso

My sister's dry wit, morbid sense of humor, and no-nonsense manner are impossible to miss if you are in her presence for any length of time. The same qualities that win respect from our soldiers can, at their best, be a reminder of the force that backs Southport's interests.

The pointed discussion of assassination at the Celebration of Arts wasn't diplomatic. It can be amusing to see people squirm, but achieving the objective is more important than fun at the expense of our peers.

But is it good that everyone be reminded from time to time that whatever threats they think to make, Calypso is already having fun preparing contingencies against?

Yes.

I need to bring her to more gatherings that look like they will require more spice.
