I have taken up service with the Princess Consort of House Thrax as her handmaiden, that I might continue to serve the House that took me in. The Princess Consort is a good woman, and I feel we will get along very well. I adore her infant daughter Astrid, and I consider it an honor to have been chosen to serve.

Your husband's description of your daughter, whom I'm told is a pearl of a beautiful girl, brings to mind a squalling infant made entirely of tentacles and rage, spewing bodily fluids in every direction.
I can't sleep now. It's a description that haunts me.
My children were more like bundles of dough covered in arrowheads and teeth. I mean, they grew out of it, but-
