While the nobles do their noble thing (nobody cares about my opinion on any of *that* mess) I'm going to write about my first week as DMoRPA!
So far I'm feeling pretty good about it. I met some Prodigals. I started piecing together ideas for some programs. I was going to work out the kinks with Saya and her shop, but Princess Lark sharked her as a protege before I could even put the proposal properly together. I'm going to call is a win anyway.
Besides, I have a sneaky suspicion there will be plenty of refugees and prodigals in the future to dip their toes in the water for the plan though. ( I can't imagine WHERE they'll be coming from)
Now I'm going to slink back to my workshop to lock myself in for the rest of the day before the post-sermon crowd rush the archives to unburden their souls to the scholars.

Haven't written to you in a while, journal. I've been busy. Imagine that!
Everyone in the city is fighting, as usual. I'm just going to tell you about my week.
I got some bad news about my father. That was shitty and maybe after I'm dead and my BJs are intermingled with the Whites, that will make more sense. I'm sure it will.
However, even though I had that bad news, I'm okay. I mean, sure, I wanted to hug a pillow and cry in a corner but I needed to man up because there are people counting on me. That's right, because Magpie Fucking Grayhope is the Deputy Minister of Refugee and Prodigal Affairs!
So if any refugees or prodigals are reading this? The DMoRPA's got your back, you just send Magpie a message and he'll make things right.
I also made some new friends and they're pretty amazing, I'm not gonna lie. I can't tell you who they are, Whitey, but they're great. (Again, one of those things that'll will all fall together after I'm dead, but for the love of the gods, please don't use that as an excuse to kill me, I'm having an up week. At least wait til my next down week.)
And for my last parting vagueness, if you break into someone's private property and take up resident in their room, and then they get predictably ANGRY at you? That's not a temper tantrum. That's called being angry because you BROKE INTO THEIR CABIN. Be glad you weren't thrown in the harbor. I hear there are sharks. My new prodigal friend mentioned them.

I heard the journals were entertaining so of course I had to come and read them. I was not disappointed. It's nice to know that despite all the terror and fucked up shit we're facing that some things stay the same. I have nothing witty to add and no one cares anyway.

I keep hearing people rave about Fort's artwork. Maybe I should go see this show.
Thena's name is being tossed around a lot too.
We should change our names from Grayhopes to Greathopes.
Still, it's pretty great that Fortunato's art is getting so much attention, but we already knew he was amazing. That's why I had his apprentices sneak out figurines on him to sell.

I don't really need to share with the city how I feel about all the friends I lost in Thrax to the waters. I will share alcohol though. Anyone that comes to the Murder of Crows can order a free drink on my tab as long as they raise it to the fine sailors lost.

Relationship Note on Fortunato
Fort threw a great party to celebrate Mae and I getting married. It was a blast. I got outrageously drunk, everyone looked amazing, and I didn't get nearly enough time to say hello to all the guests. I don't think the Grayhope Manor has ever had so many crammed into a room...

A fellow named Persephone sent me the best inspiration in regards to a couch, and so I have built one and sent it along to him. I made a second one and put it on sale in my shop for those that might be interested in owning one as well. I plan to make quite a few as I have made quite the investment in that particular material used in covering it.
I have so many ideas. I'm starting to understand why Fort goes into seclusion when making his art. Maybe our work will be side by side someday in a gallery. His paintings... my couches...

Sometimes someone makes a damned compelling argument! (And I know what you're all thinking, but I'm a married man now and I have to wait at least a month before I go back to *those* habits)
Anyway, I picked Lady Khanne as my patron. If it doesn't work out, I'll just try again.
I'm fairly convinced it'll work out fine though. The fact that she even offered after all the shit I've bothered her with says a lot.
Start preparing yourselves for some amazing couches, Arx. You're not going to believe how fantastic they'll be. Just sitting on them will bring a joy akin to your second time. (Because face it, it's pretty rare for someone to actually enjoy their first time... usually it's just weird and awkward and over very quickly)

How does one choose a patron? Do you decide based upon social status? Do you go with whoever lets you have the most artistic freedom? The highest income? The prettiest lady (or man)? How long do you wait until you choose?
Maybe I'll just put all their names on a wall and throw a knife and see where it lands.
