The second performance at the Spirits was less successful than the first, I think. Though patrons didn't seem impressed by the song sung in their native tongue, they warmed considerably to the bawdy tune that followed. I have to wonder if moving directly to a bawdy tune for the second performance was a wise move.

Work continues at the College. The mosaic is still being restored, and it will likely take some time for that project to be finished.

I have begun organizing a tour of the Compact to spread word about the Bard's College and to seek out skilled instrument makers. Hopefully, the College can become a regular stop for travelling musicians and singers. Horses and supplies will be required; the logistics of planning are unfamiliar to me; I have mostly traveled alone, or simply joined caravans and the like that I did not have to organize.

The Whisper Ball was entertaining.

The first wave of new instruments have arrived at the College. The harp, the chitarrone, and the clavichord are now set up and placed where I want them. At least until work restoring the mosaic on the floor is finished, anyway, but that will take some time. All three are properly tuned. I wonder if it would have been smarter to wait until after the mosaic was finished to move them in. Archlector Wylla stopped by for her promised tour and approved of the place.

My guide to musical instruments has been submitted to the Academy and is now among the Cultural collection. The second copy is housed on the bookcase where the College will keep its music collection. The display cases for the instruments are slowly filling. A massive table has been installed.

Seeing everything coming together is greatly satisfying.

The Bard's College is now an officially recognized organization in Arx. I've sent out a number of messengers during the process of legitimizing the organization, so hopefully there will be more members soon.

The college is an organized group of people with with common interests; while I'd like to help teach students one day, there is no formal instruction set up at the moment.

First, we'll need instruments. And actual furniture.

Maybe once we have a considerable number of small, inexpensive drums or tabrets, we can go to the Lowers orphanage and have an activity with the children there.

Thank you to the patrons of The Spirits Tavern for making me feel very welcome last night. Hopefully I did not make too many mistakes with the translated song.

Clearly, more bawdies are in order.

Baroness Lucita Saik has generously offered use of her music room in the efforts to make the Bard's College a reality. There is to be a fundraiser there hosted by myself, the Baroness, Princess Sabella Grayson, and Princess Sorrel Thrax. Still upcoming is my first performance at The Spirits. I have much to prepare for and songs to choose and practice.

The College's Great Hall is almost empty now, save for the shrine to Jayus. There is still so much work to do.

I have finally secured a building on Grace Way, near the Whisper House. The acoustics in the great hall are wonderful; only some minor modifications are required. It’s very empty right now, but at least it’s clean. There is still so much to do. Furniture, decor, a stage, instruments. I can see it all in my mind’s eye, and this is a large step toward making this project a reality.

The Bard's College would be a somewhat informal organization dedicated to the improvement of musicians and singers by providing a place to gather, socialize, and train.

Such an establishment would draw musicians and the like to Arx; with them, they will bring songs, stories, and news of other places. This has the potential to be an information network.

Music is a universal language; it brings people together. One need not know the words to a song to enjoy it. A bard is also something of a diplomat; we read our audience and ingratiate ourselves to them, and in turn we are welcomed. A bard must have some mastery of etiquette, even if it's the informal etiquette of a rough tavern. A bard, through words and song, has influence.

Music is culture, and culture is Arx. There is currently no organization to contact should someone require a musician for their event. While the Whisper House is one place to find entertainers, not all bards are Whispers and not all Whispers are bards. Clearly, there is some overlap, and it is my hope that the bards would have a partnership of sorts with the Whisper House. The College would also be a place for Whispers and others to learn how to sing and play instruments, skills that are certainly helpful when it comes to entertaining.

I wonder if the term 'college' might be confusing. Bards would be free to come and go, of course. There is the possibility for rooms to lodge in in the future, should the organization prove successful.

A Bard's Hall? Music House? Music Hall? I am certainly open to other names.

There needs to be a place in which singers and musicians can learn; a Bard’s College, I think. A place to hone performance skills, but also a place where new songs and ideas could be shared. I may try to see if I can find a space near the Whisper House.

Arx has been welcoming and, on occasion, extremely generous. I am waiting to hear back from the Whisper House about joining them; for today, I'll be in Judgment Park with a purse open for people to put coin into if they like my music.

I might see if the Sailor's Ball taking place at the Hart would like some sea shanties as background music.
