As for the dispensation on my personal property in the event of my death:

To Sybilla Rossi and Jiacomo Contraltini, I deed my ownership in an estate outside of Lenosia, once my childhood home, as well as a monthly stipend for the rest of their lives for faithful and devoted service.

To Princess Serafine Velenosa, I give my silk dresses to be disposed of as she wishes.

To Princess Isolde Velenosa, I leave the gowns and a bow that were left to me by her sister.

To Princess Alarissa Thrax, I leave my most risqué gowns to remember that sometimes less -is- more.

To Prince Victus Thrax, I leave the responsibility to make sure my husband doesn’t drink himself into oblivion after I’m gone. And a broken table.

To Princess Donella Redrain, I leave a silver filigree pendant set with a large, exquisite Duskstone.

To Prince Luca Velenosa, I leave the contents of my liquor cabinet.

To Brother Driskell, I leave the memory and legacy of our shared dream. When I am gone, it will be up to you to keep it alive.

To Father Orazio, I leave a champagne silver brooch and well as a memory of a dance shared long ago.

To Baron Stefano Gilden, I leave my horse, Bianchetta.

To Baroness Enyo Gilden, I leave my dagger, Webripper, as well as my armor.

To Dame Leta Broadbent, I give all the raw silk I currently have stored in a warehouse in Arx.

To Mirari Corsetina, I leave my masks and a book of alchemical recipes. She will know what to do with them.

To Blacktongue the Harlequin, I leave the custody of Oleander the Tarantula and Hiss the Viper.

To my son, Donato, I leave my assorted writings and papers as well as the wedding ring that his father made for me to be given to his bride one day.

To my daughters, Adriana and Luciana, I leave my other jewelry, art, a specific document, as well as letters addressed to each of them.

To my husband, Talen, I leave any remaining belongings, permission to view my Black Reflections, my heart (yes, my actual heart if it can be recovered from my body) as well as the following words:
“I saved the best for last. I will be waiting for you. Forever.”

My Black Reflections are to be released at my death to Archduke-Consort Talen Velenosa and Brother Driskell. After a period of no less than seventy years has passed, the entirety of my Black Reflections may be released to the public.

I, Eleyna Velenosa, Archduchess of Lenosia and Grand Duchess of the Lyceum declare this to be my Will on the matter of the line of succession of House Velenosa. This line of succession will take effect upon my death. This Will invalidates any other documents of the same or similar nature when it comes to this matter.

I name Prince Donato Velenosa as my heir in the event of my death. If I predecease his father, Archduke-Consort Talen Velenosa is to be named Regent until Prince Donato comes of age. In the event that we both die before Prince Donato is of age, Princess Jaenelle Velenosa is to be named Princess-Regent with Duchess Calypso Malvici named Lady-Protector and Duchess Calista Fidante named Lady-Advocate until he reaches his majority.

Following Prince Donato and his progeny, the line of succession is as follows:

Princess Adriana Velenosa and her progeny, followed by

Princess Luciana Velenosa and her progeny, followed by

Princess Isolde Velenosa and her progeny.

A child also shouldn't be treated like garbage for being illegitimate. They did not choose to be born and therefore should not be castigated for their parents' choices. We can discuss about the political implications of these adoptions. I think that is a fair debate.

But to discuss these children as if they should be sources of shame because of their parentage and birth circumstances? To imply that they should not be celebrated because of their father's sins? Ridiculous. And I don't think that we shouldn't scorn them because they might turn to dissipation and bad choices otherwise.

I think we shouldn't scorn them because they are children.

Let me state in no uncertain terms: Welcome to the Lyceum, Aisha and Amir. I hoe you will be a credit to your House. I know you will be loved.

That is a perspective I hadn't necessarily considered, but rings true. If we find it anathema that a child inherits the economic debt of his or her parents, then shouldn't we also be against a child inheriting the spiritual and social debts of his or her parents?

Children should not be punished for the sins of their parents. No matter what crime, dishonor, or shame the parent commits, the child should not be shamed or punished for choices they did not make.

I cannot fathom how that is justice in any sense of the word.

Add me to the chorus. You work is brilliant and your leadership of the Crafter's Guild has been excellent.

There is a reason that I have been asking to be your patron every month for the past couple of years.

The words of House Amadeo are 'Loyalty knows no bounds'. Loyalty cuts both ways. The apostate Abbas nee Thrax did show loyalty to my House and liege in dealing with the traitorous Houses of Argento and Malgentilega.

I will not comment on whether his exile or excommunication are appropriate. These are not for me to decide, and I have no opinion of them.

But I know that whatever his transgressions before the Gods and man, and whatever shade or hue of political paint surround recent decisions, he has no enemies here.

House Amadeo has a brief, but proud, history of taking in orphans and so opens its doors now to the orphaned Abbas. (**this line is underlined several times.**)

Count Amadeo,

According to information I have received, you seem to misunderstand the meaning of 'banned from the Lyceum'. Your lands, which exists within the grace of the Lyceum, are not exempt from the decree of the Grand Duchess of the Lyceum. Therefore, I think it would be most wise for you to reconsider your hasty promises to an excommunicate and an exile.

Archduchess Eleyna Velenosa
Grand Duchess of the Lyceum

Remember that however you are played or by whom, even when those who play you are those in power, your soul is in your keeping alone. When you stand before the gods, you cannot say that virtue was not convenient at the time. You bear the burden of your own choices, always.

Relationship Note on Calypso

I wish I could claim credit for some change in Talen, but the truth is that the man and leader he is becoming has been there for as long as I can remember, just hidden beneath layers of immaturity, frustration, and bullshit. Once those things are cleared away, the 'diamond in the rough' is revealed.

You are absolutely correct about one thing: I could not have chosen a better partner to rule at my side. I know there are those who had doubts because of his bloodline, his reputation, or even -my- reputation, but I point to his current success as the evidence that the faith I had in him was well placed.

I couldn't have done any of this without him.

House Velenosa would more than welcome any additional ties to House Thrax to further cement our time-honoured alliance. Princess Jaenelle Velenosa is one such fine example of this and is so very dear to our heart

Relationship Note on Cadenza

As the head of House Velenosa, I have a duty to all members of the House to see to their welfare and protect them from harm. Yet, sometimes, affections grow beyond the bounds of duty, as it has with Princess Cadenza. She approached me from the start with openness and candor, offering me total trust. That's rare enough from family, much less a fellow Lycene. She came to the city and got right to work in making alliances and rising to position within the Explorer's Society, despite her rough start and what she experienced prior to her arrival. Anything I ask, she hasn't just been willing but eager to help. I admire her loyalty, tenacity, and humor. She is a credit to the House that I am proud and honored to call her my family.

Given her long years of faithful service to Archduke-Consort Talen Velenosa, Sybilla the courtier has been promoted to lady's maid under my employment. The focus of her duties will shift to taking care of the small duties and responsibilities required of an Archduchess' lady's maid.

To this end, Jiacomo, as Velenosa seneschal having served the family in various roles for as long as I've been alive, now works directly for Archduke Talen. He is a talented hand at making unruly royals behave in a much more dignified manner. It's just usually children that he provides such a service to, of course.
