Relationship Note on Nadia

Duchess Nadia has shown interest in my skills, as well as my wellbeing. I am not sure what she expects of me, or the things that will be required of me in the future, but I have accepted her offer as my patron. She leaves me alone to do my own thing, which is nice. She gets a discount (because I'm still a business woman and can't just do things for free), and that seems to have made her happy. In return, she sends me food so I don't die. Though, her feeding me means I remain alive, and she doesn't have to find someone else to take my place...so it might be a selfish gesture. I'm ok with this, I think.

My time with the Mummers has taught me a great many things, some more valuable than others.

Everyone is a critic. Whether you perform for them or not, they will judge you by assumptions. They will pick apart words, gestures, the things not said, and you will be held accountable for them. Stop caring. Don't read your own reviews because it is always those unhappy with events that tend to be the loudest. Be secure with your own merits, talents, and have enough self-confidence to know that where one person may deny you there are ten more who rely on you.

I have promised someone who holds my best interest at heart to take a vacation after the gala, and I am considering it. I need to work on my flaws, and I can not do that locked away in a workroom. Who am I kidding, I'd bring work with me. Maybe instead of vacation, it will be a night off. I can deal with a night off. One night won't kill me?

Relationship Note on Benjamin

Benjamin Carver is my new best friend. I'm not sure if he is aware of such, but it is true even if he disagrees. We have the same focused goals, granted his are a bit different and involve gross things, while mine are nothing but beauty. I worry without my attention he is going to kill himself. I also worry that with my attention, I might kill him.

I am honored, truly, to be listed as one of the points of contact for the Grand Duchess and Duke's event for clothing. It shows that my hard work at being recognized as one of the leading seamstresses in the city has come to bear fruit. I have decided to have some ideas ready should there be anyone who wishes to have something crafted, though with it only being only so many days away, I should really start doing that instead of this.

Relationship Note on Abbas

Prince Abbas Thrax, the Lion of the Dark Waters. He came into my shop seeking a very specific commission. While I never sew and tell, it was an interesting meeting, and one I shall have to repeat once the clothing is done. Perhaps I misjudged him when we first started speaking, but I did have respect for the man when he left.

Relationship Note on Hammar

Hammar is a simple minded sweetheart. He could easily crush my skull with a bare hand should he choose to, and yet his touch s gentle. I am not sure why he has a fascination with my hair, or it's color, but he seems to enjoy patting me on the head so why not let him. There are very few people in the city that don't have their own agenda, but Hammar is certainly one of them, it makes me almost jealous that he can keep his wonderment in life. I do try so hard to see the beauty in all things, but he does it effortlessly. I am going to make him clothing, he deserves nice things.

The Crafter's Guild is something that, while I certainly am a part of, I have not really spent much time focusing on. I do what I am good at for people, and that is that. Perhaps with the new leader, though I certainly have no idea who she is nor submitted her name for the position, I might become more involved. It does worry me that I do not know her, but I should fix that I suppose when I am not busy. We shall see what becomes of this, I can only imagine it is a thankless job for highly emotional artistic types.

Center Stage

Clementine dressed in orange and cream finery, the full multi-layered pleated dress cascading around her in all it's glory as she takes a commanding stance among her people. There is no denying her grace, poise, nor her power, all radiating from the woman in an awe-inspiring display of a controlled presence.

The battle rages on around her. Her army being slaughtered, each decision made being questioned by those around her, as one by one, they fall at her feet. She is searching for one, turning young men over to see their lifeless eyes staring back. She did this. Clementine finds him, her general, the man she trusted more than any other, but he is quickly fading. There is a brief, passionate exchange, a sword...his sword...his family's destiny. It is gone, then so is he.

Scene Change
Clementine is alive, and while her army is left greatly handicapped, her city in ruins, she still possesses grace, poise, and power. There is no denying her these things, nor the rage that simmers just beneath the surface of her calm demeanor. Vengeance will be hers, obstacles will be overcome. The will in her will not be destroyed, and the leader rises once more.

Curtain

Till next time, Master Grayward.

Relationship Note on Audric

I find that Audric is not quite sure what he wants. Available for hire, a sellsword, with morals. How could one do such a job properly with those hanging above their head? I find myself intrigued, and wishing to test just how far his morals stretch when money is offered.

Relationship Note on Rook

Charming, handsome, and full of praise, who would not wish for such a companion? He surprises me on some level, and while we may share quite a few things in common, he is much more worldly than I. He belongs at lavish balls and grand affairs, I am better at pretending.

I am busy. So very busy. The shop has only just finished construction and I am in the process of making five different outfits. And a hat. It is good to stay busy, truly, and the troupe needs the profits to put on the next performance. Unlike other groups throughout the city, the Mummers rely on the generosity of those who wish to support the arts.

Perhaps I should seek more patrons, for who does not wish to have their name beside that of a successful play or performance?

Relationship Note on Acacia

Mistress Culler is a charming woman, who Hammar has informed me has hair like my own. She came to see me about a few commissions, which have proven vexing as I had no idea there was such a cry for pockets. Pockets, who would have thought that this would be the next fashion statement. Quite helpful. Acacia, not the pockets.

Relationship Note on Evaine

Evaine is the lead actress with the Mummers, and the one who employed me as the troupe's seamstress. Without her aid, I am not sure where I would be. I owe her a great deal, and will prove my worth.

Relationship Note on Eithne

My sister and I are so much alike and yet so different from one another. The forge is her home, while mine is bending over a table covered in bolts of cloth and thread. She has agreed to let me make her a dress, anything to get her out of those leather clothes she is fond of. I have the perfect design in mind, and it has nothing to do with cherries.

Relationship Note on Alarissa

Princess Alarissa heeded my call for a patron. We had a lovely meeting, and while nothing has been set in stone, I did leave her presence inspired to create something. The inspiration ended up being a lovely white silk gown with beautiful roses twisted around the skirt. She seemed as pleased with the creation as I was, and I look forward to speaking with her again.

A masterpiece does not end when a painter completes the final brush stroke. When a sculptor casts the final chip aside. Art is not just what one sees in passing. It is a living, breathing entity that thrives on being seen, used, touched, and of course worn. Clothing is more than a simple means to an end. It is more than a social obligation to indicate rank, class, and occupation. A person may say the correct lines, may behave the correct way, but without looking the part, the scene is doomed to fail before the curtain closes.
