Such honor has been bestowed upon me by my Duke and beloved Cousin, entrusting me with such an important position within the duchy.
Its a weird feeling, after many years of my talents being looked over, to have my family finally acknowledge my abilities. I am proud and happy to be of service and support to my home.
I'm glad I came to the city. I just regret the way things came to be.

House Laurent is grateful to have such a leader as my dear cousin, Duke Cristoph. A firm hand where needed and a softer one on occasion, he is the model of leadership as should be.

Duke Cristoph has been putting many of us to work to make a dream of his a reality. This has been a reprieve of sorts from the tragedy and conflict of late. It hasn't been easy, by any means. In fact some of the process has been quite harrowing and we've put our lives in peril. Still, it's a worthwhile endeavor and I've been glad to help wherever I've been able. The people I've met pursuing this have largely been decent and humble folk, as moved by duty as they are honor, and devoted to the Faith.
It makes me hopeful that the wrongs that have been done may be rectified with effort and the Oathlands made stronger for it.

Soon your daughter will be equally mobile. And they will band together against you. And they know about fire. A note: Echo is trained to bark when danger is near. This will come in handy. She was always an excellent tattler on our brood. Without Echo or Oaken, our children are getting away with far more mischief than before.

I was really impressed by the scale of the Duke Cristoph's plan for the Artshall School of Agriculture. I'm curious to see how it all comes together, as it will definitely take a lot of effort and further planning to make it a reality. It should be very beneficial though and more than pay for itself in the long term, as there will always be a need for farmers of skill to work the land and keep everyone well fed.

It took me becoming a baron for me to realize how very often Duke Cristoph is not fully in fighting trim.
I am not sure how I managed to miss this as he was growing up. Perhaps it was the way in which I was introduced to his family. I always assumed Jael was the one prone to misadventures.
I know differently now.

Duke Cristoph insists on a rematch with Lady Jael.
Considering he broke an arm in the last joust, I think that it only fair there be a few modifications to the next joust.
One modification I have already arranged for in the form of some toy stick horses delivered to the bedroom floor of the Laurent Estate. This way Duke Cristoph will have less distance to fall.

Proof that title is no impediment to approachability and amiability. There must be something in the Oathlands water of late, for I have found one resident of Valardinian lands after another sharing the same esteemed qualities of kindness and fine conversation. Maybe it helps I saw the collapse of the duke's most serious expression before my own gave way yesterday, but he made speaking of everything under the sun effortless.

I can attest that when I came to Arx and first began trying to acquaint my palate to wines, that Kael started with Laurent Mead sweetened with a further dollop of Laurent Honey. I now can appreciate the beverage on its own and rather enjoy it on nights I know the nurse can see to Talis. Also, I do, on occasion, enjoy an Oathlands whisky, usually with a dollop of Laurent Honey or lightened with some juice from Oathlands apples. In fact, Natalia Whisper and I rather enjoyed the mix of whisky and apple juice!
But back to mead: Laurent mead has been my favorite to date.
