I don't know quite what to write or what to say. I am sad and a bit confused. But - things happen as people make the best choices they can, at any given time. I believe that firmly, and hopefully over time I can refine my beliefs, with the help of those who are more knowledgeable than I am.

That was an adventure. I am glad there were such brave folks there to keep me safe and steady along such a narrow and frightening path. Still, all in all, that was quite an experience, and I think I would do it again. Mind you, next time I will be 19 I expect, and so have that much more learning to bring with me. I expect I will need it all.

Jogging at 5am is the mark of a true tormenter - or at least a true advocate for such things. I hurt all over, cousin, though I admit some of that may well be from my ill-fated gauntlet attempt. Still, I was curious to try, and I am amazed I managed to climb that wall. Even if the rest of the obstacles clearly outmatched me.

Well, that was embarrassing. But fun at the same time. Even if my legs are all bruised and my ankle is swollen. If I ever try that gauntlet again, I vow to do better than I did today.

The surprise shower for Princess Sorrel was fun. I was surprised to win the game that was played, though I am certain it is only because it was a doll's nappy being changed. Had it been a real child, I would have had completely different results! And considering that was some time ago, it is obvious I have not been updating my journal so regularly. I will endeavour to correct this failing going forward.

Yay, Ryhalt is back! and Clover! And baby Ivy, but while she's cute, she isn't who I missed while they were back home. It is very nice to have more of my family here. Now it's only Elsbetta missing. I wonder if we can coax her to come - it will be lonely back home without all of us there. Maybe she'll come to Arx as well.

There do seem to be a lot of people writing comments about other people in their white journals, as though they believe they are blacks. I do not think anyone should discover that I am upset with them or take issue with something they said in my white journals.
My personal opinion of course, and I am well aware that others do not agree with this. One need only review the white journals out there today to see that many disagree with this position. I suppose that diversity is part of what makes Arx such a fascinating city.

I am going to get some armour. I am not sure if this is a good or bad thing, but I hope it will never prove necessary. And also, Master Briar comes highly recommended, so much so that there is a secret person commissioning the armour for me.

This is a very good point, and yet, we remember specific points in history as important. Well, most of us do. There are many days and years in which nothing of historical note happened. I wonder if we live in such a time, or if the battles that we have so recently gone through will be seen as notable.
But I do agree that they should remember. Only I am not convinced they will.

So I went to the Hall of Heroes today after an acquaintance mentioned it to me yesterday. That is - something. I really am not sure what to say, except that there really are a lot of very courageous and brave people who have managed to do spectacular things, even allowing for the hyperbole the scholars say we should. I went to all the halls, but spent most of my time in the main hall, and at the oldest of the statues, marvelling at how little we know of what went on a thousand years ago. It makes me wonder if in a thousand years anyone will even think about us at all.

I find it is always good to make new friends and learn more about acquaintances. Particularly when feeling a bit down. At least now I have many things to think of, rather than silly marriage proposals that never materialize.

I have heard a very sad thing about Marquis Jacque Lyonesse. I met him here, very early after my arrival in Arx. I am not sure what to say - this must be very sad for his family. And I can understand the rage and desire to make the guilty parties pay. I hope they do pay appropriately, of course, but I somehow think it will not bring ease to mourning hearts.

The party for High Lord Thrax was quite enjoyable, I had a lot of fun. Prince Barric is incredibly kind and sweet. And the sea food was delicious.

I have embarked on an adventure to learn something practical. I do hope my reputation of being purely ornamental will not suffer for it.
