The hunts all went off without too much of a hitch. At the very least no one was horribly injured during the boar hunt, and no rider came off while chasing down the stags. I am to understand there was some upset in regards to the pheasant hunt; those that stayed showed great skill and I think all hunters and huntresses enjoyed themselves.

I was certainly impressed by the quantity and quality of beasts brought in, and for no selfish cause but to bring to the larders of the city. This was not a senseless murder of any creature, nor cruel, not a single animal killed suffered -- as Khinn informed me, each kill was quick, proficient and respectful of the magnificent animals that will go in aid of the mouths of this city we all call home. The day was a great honour to domain and Petrichor.

I am grateful for everyone who attended, since without them the result could not be the same. Congratulations go to:

Master Calaudrin Estardes, who won the archery hunt with such skill
Princess Tikva Grayson, who felled a truly incredible stag in the mounted hunt, and;
Dame Esoka Greenblood, who battled one of the greatest boar’s Khinn had ever seen

Congratulations also go to Dame Leola Allenatore for all of the work she and the Lodge of Petrichor put into this wonderful event, and all the work they continue to do for the city, Faith and Compact.

It feels so rare to be a guest to a soiree rather than hosting and organizing it myself. Truly though, Lord Telmar and Lady Greenmarch did an exceptional job of the night.

The games looked like such fun, though some are more competitive than others, everyone wore smiles through them. The wine, company, it was a simply perfect night.

Congratulations to Lord Corban and Lady Monique to the event of the season. Simply wonderful.

Words cannot truly expression both the amazement and the gratitude felt for the generosity shown at the Freedom artshow auction.

Thank you to everyone who donated, nothing is impossible when there are so many hands offering help.

Dame Thena's artshow for the Knights of Solace went superbly! I was so glad to see members of Solace present as well during the evening and that so many from the city came to view the artwork.

And a majority of thanks must go to the artists, each and everyone of them made the show possible more than any other. Each piece was captivating in their own right and I am so proud of the artists of Arx for their skill and dedication to the recent shows.

Though I do think Master Magpie's chair stole the show. It is an incredibly impressive chair.

The exhibition will be up for another month before the works are all auctioned off. I do hope there is as great a turn out as there had been for the show itself.

There are so many wonderful gatherings on the horizon. I am so looking forward to see the art of Knights for the Knights of Solace; I think it will be a rather uplifting event. Then there is the upcoming festivities that the Whisper House, the Lodge and the Faith are collaborating -- I expect it will be fantastic. I think I am starting to run out of hours in a day.

Relationship Note on Samantha

I had the pleasure to meet young Lady Nara Deepwood at the Shrine of the First Choice. She is beautiful, but I think there are great and wonderful things in store for the little Lady of Old Oak. Her parents are lucky to have such a lovely daughter, and she I think can be considered the same in turn for such devoted parents.

An absolutely phenomenal event. Master Fortunato outdid himself; I think every person that came into the exhibit was struck by the art. I am grateful for the efforts of Fortunato, Prince Mason and Aleksei to bring such a compelling evening together. Striking and unique, it was an evening with a message that I do not think could be easily brought forward by word of mouth alone, the harrowing and dreadful aspect of thraldom, of chains and slavery of which we do not always see but hear of, and the sort that has, for the most part, only existed in tales. Then of course, those chain we which we know too well.

Thanks too should be giving to all that attended, for those that were willing to listen, partake and that had something --even something small-- to offer in aid of the cause. There are so many names of so many people that have done so, and to each I am thankful.

An exceptional, though dauntingly eye-opening night.

Though the wedding was a little while ago, there is congratulations to be had for the Duke and Duchess Laurent. I had the honour of helping them with the reception which I think went quite well, everyone certainly seemed to enjoy the food. Which is one of the most important parts of a reception really. I wish both Duke Cristoph and Duchess Nicia the very brightest of futures and hope that the new bond between Laurent and Pravus remains a strong one, and brings both houses great things in the coming years.

Utterly incredible. His Grace, Prince Edain did a spectacular job of hosting the event, and every one of the competitors gave it their all--

-- though some could have stood to not give quite so much.

It was something to watch. I must give credit to the healers present too-- Sister Thena, Prince Sophie, Lady Reigna and Lady Caelis amongst many others did a incredible job. I cannot thank them, and the Mercies enough for their tireless efforts.

A perfect way to spend the first hours of a brand new year.

I can only hope for equally bright, and wonderful mornings for every day to come.

The wedding was an absolutely magnificent feat; the Cathedral was breathtaking, her Majesty, Queen Symonesse was simply awe-inspiring and of course, His Majesty King Alaric was perfectly befitting such regal station. The Legate of Concepts spoke brilliantly, and their vows were truly touching.

Her Majesty's spiders are the most incredibly creatures, and they actually applauded -- though one lost its footing I believe. Incredible.

It is a beautiful start to what will soon be a new year, a brighter one than those gone before it, I hope.

Long live, and Gods' bless, the King and Queen of our Compact.

Though admittedly, not quite a story, as the last journal was immediately swallowed by paw prints... I do not know the wicked little feline has ever done anything terribly note worthy.

Other than being adorable.

Or.. very nearly destroying a rather significant collection of books in the rectory at one stage. Which is best left unspoken.

Still..

I admit that Vashti probably is not the most, affectionate feline to most people and he has attacked more than one of my friends, if not gone hunting after their pets (I am still so terribly sorry, Fortunato), but for all of his flaws and his terrible attitude there is no greater company than my darling little Vashti.

I realise to almost everyone else he just seems snide, or disinterested, or entirely too interested but no one ever sees him when we are alone (and away from the dogs) in my office. Or how his wide his eyes get when I am changing and he chases after the sashes of my robes. He is always gentle when he sets up on my lap at my desk, never sets claws to my silks, and his purr is the sweetest things I have ever heard.

He was a gift to me from someone very dear, and that alone is something special, but I love my little companion when he sits and watches my quill as I write, or his persistent napping on my parchments. I love him because I never feel alone with him, because there is little else I enjoy more than coming home to an otherwise empty kitchen to hear his mewling as if he were telling me all about his day.

Though, I would like if he grew out of this phase of being obsessed with ink pots...

Relationship Note on Calypso

I heard it was a most beautiful weddings, and certainly the Lady General was an absolutely breathtaking bride. The now, Lord Anze Malvici made a very charming groom as well, I must admit. I wish them both the very best for their future, one can already see just how happy they make each other and I am sure the trip to Mount Blancbier will be divine.

The Gods' blessings, I am so happy for them both.

Never underestimate the romantic influence of gifting someone a wardrobe. Though it may come to mind the gift's purpose is for transporting clothes from one place to another to be kept, I feel this is a clear and open offer for me to buy more clothes.

The Whisper House continues to help gather support in aid with the Mercies of Lagoma in a most noble endeavour. I do hope there are more of my dear Whispers willing to help, after all these efforts are at the heart of our wonderful House, amongst many other honourable causes as well as political ones.

The Great Houses and their Voices have all be very responsive and generous, but I do look forward to seeing many more leaders within the peerages and, I hope, with those outside of it. The emotional and mental impact of tragedy can be over looked -- I am most glad to assist in something that sees all recovery is available to whomever needs it.

Every little bit helps.

It seems there are a few favourite topics these days in the pages of the white-spines. I think one of marriage is better kept to another entry, though as for scents:

Somehow, the greatest scent to anyone is that person they hold dear, which sounds terribly odd and rather like animals but I am sure there is some truth in it. Laws of attraction, as it were, and scent has the greatest pull. I am sure many have written within the pages of the journals, and smiled knowingly to themselves, noting subtly or otherwise, the defining perfume of that person in their life.

It is just something else that makes them unique to us. Sometimes, it is the hardest perfume to describe.

How does one describe, in full, the clean and natural aroma of a man? Leather; the heat of the sun on his skin; the distant remnants of the lather from when he shaved that morning; the sheen of sweat from work not yet turned stale; or frustratingly the vague telling of a wet dog after he let the little beast in the ocean before it jumped all over him. Or just whatever it is that makes him, him.

On a less romantically philosophical point, I suppose, I like many of the more subtle perfumes for myself. Flowers tangled in spice, as an example.

And I am terribly partial to jasmine which is, above all others, my favourite.

Relationship Note on Warrick

He makes a most lovely apple pie. The scent divine, and I barely even finished cutting it up before the pieces were disappearing rapidly. Though in the end, it might not have been the world's best first impression of myself, I am so happy to have met Warrick and perhaps, in future, there are baking opportunities together.

Relationship Note on Victus

That went quite well, if I do say so myself. There is a chance, perhaps, that my judgment of him had been sealed too soon. I am, for his generosity, willing to amend it. I will not go quite so far to say I look forward to it, but I am most grateful for everything he has done and for his offered time.

However, I wish he would learn to not use his teeth and rather an appropriately designed tool to remove corks; they do exist, you know.

There is a great deal to be thankful for at present. This I remembered as I took the time to visit the tree Legate Orazio has had placed in the Sanctum of Dignity. I have set my letter amongst many others there but not before revelling in just how many were already present. The notes of love, hope and gratitude were enough to instil in myself how much people have worked hard for, bled for and suffered to give us everything that we have now.

My note, though, I have kept, like all the others, unnamed my thanks will remain known only to the Gods, and those intimately familiar with my handwriting.

I am willing to say how grateful I am for the King’s return and for the new Queen whom brings him such strength, and for my place they offered as favoured amongst the Court. As a Whisper, I am both proud and grateful of our most Radiant Selene Whisper and her effort, along with the great effort of others to see the Treaty signed and our Forest made safe.

I look to the future with hope again, and that we as people of Arx, and the Compact as a whole may work together for a stronger future. For those that will be the future.
