The ones you can trust the least are the ones who ask you to trust them the most.

The People's Tournament is a lot of fun.

Rumors get started every day in the city. We all know not to believe them, don't we?
So why's it heresy to dream too loudly? If silks can throw a party over made-up stories - with
enough coin to feed every starving baby this winter, and save every dying mother - can't just a guy
from the Lowers write his own made-up stories and sing his own songs?
You're scared of a rumor with no truth in it. You're looking for evil in the wrong places. There are
plenty of threats out there. Be scared of them.

My friend. I don't even know if he's in the Champion guild. But he's one of the best people I've ever known. And he always sticks up for me.
I said... it would be easy for him to fight. He was just setting me straight. And he was right. I shouldn't take advantage of my friends, specially over something like soup and biscuits. Anyway, after he found out the trial by combat was actually gonna happen, he told me he was gonna beat the shit out of me so that I couldn't walk so that he'd go be my Champion, but I hid somewhere until he got over that idea.
He thinks I messed up cuz I get stupid mad over crap like this. But I don't think so. He doesn't get that part because he's always been a winner, right? I told you that. But I'm glad I didn't tell you his name because he doesn't deserve to be talked about like this. He's the freakin best of us.

The coughing made me angry, mostly at myself. I tried to ignore it. I've heard it a lot, haven't I? But there's just something really sad about it this time. I thought about it for a long while afterwards. Maybe Nyce is right about the world. Everywhere I step is crap, but if I stop walking there's just too much time to mope.
