Relationship Note on Laric
All the talk here about siblings has made me wish I had some. Of course, there's Laric, who is near as a brother to me, since we were close growing up and he was also more or less raised by my father. Somehow the mischief we got up to in our younger days turned into more more death-defying adventures since then. But we're both still alive, and I'm grateful for that.

The Shrine of the Sentinel is quiet, usually. I go there to think, because whenever I try to have five minutes by myself at the House of Questions, someone comes along with work. So I step out to find somewhere quiet, and when I'm there I think about... work. The fine line between success and failure. About justice and an ideal world. No, I don't think it's something we'll ever achieve, but its important to work towards.

Relationship Note on Elgana
Princess Elgana is one of my favorite people. No matter what else is going on in my life or Arvum at large, I can always count on her to share a drink with me and talk for a little while about things no one's life depends on. Work is work, but sometimes it's nice to think about something else for a while.

Relationship Note on Ida
Maybe it serves me right for not checking the Whites often enough, but I was surprised to see my new, perfect dagger mentioned here, when I only received it a day or two ago. Truly, I received compliments on it within hours of beginning to wear it. Dame Ida's skill is truly amazing. Of course, there are many skilled weaponsmiths in Arx, but I'd recommend her work to anyone. I only wish I remembered how to use a knife! Skill in using small weapons is something I knew once, years ago, but I've somehow forgotten. Skill in a weapon of last resort seems useful, and now I have the perfect weapon to motivate me to relearn.

Relationship Note on Elara
I return from a few days immersed in work to hear news of Lady Elara's passing. While we were not close, I did consider her a friend. I find I feel sadness and admiration in deep and equal measure for her sacrifice. I found her to be both competent in work and kind as a person. I will miss her.

I had expected some form of intercession might be necessary at the meeting within the Commoner's Court, between the tensions in the city and the promise of free swill as grievances and questions were aired. Fortunately no such issue arose.

It is refreshing to be back in Arx and back upon solid ground. The Saffron Chain may be as beautiful as Prince Laric Grayson insisted, but the taste of bile is not likely to leave my tongue ever again. The sea is made to be admired from afar.
