My first few weeks in Arx have been interesting to say the least. Near a month on now, barring the occasional foray to deal with pirates, and I can tell there is a pressure building in the air. The mood grows tense in so many circles with people both mourning the seeming rash of deaths that have occurred recently and preparing themselves for more.
It gives the city an air like it is on the eve of a momentous battle but I have heard of no armies marching upon the city or Compact.
Maybe I am being overly sensitive but it feels like something is coming.
Something big.
I hope I am wrong.

The dance of civility is new to me. I am not ashamed to admit that I feel woefully out of my element much of the time. I smile. I laugh. I try to be charming and polite. It works sometimes, others not, but it is an ongoing process.
I never feel as alive as when I am on the sea. Feeling the waves carry the ship aloft on it's journey. The scent of the fresh sea air and spray. The sound of the snap of sail and creak of the rigging.
I almost want to thank the pirates that threaten our waters for giving me an excuse to be back aboard ship now that I am expected to be... landed.

Fear is healthy. It keeps us alive. It tells us what we are doing is stupid, dangerous, or both.
The key is to face the fear. To stare it in the proverbial eye and not let it rule you. To beat it.
At the very least not let it stop you from acting one way or the other.
One cannot have bravery without fear.
If ever you wish to speak with me however Princess, I am always willing to listen.

It was my first true Gala and I enjoyed myself immensely. I met a number of new individuals that I quite enjoyed speaking with. I even danced and managed to not crush anyone's toes. I am glad I went.
Now, what to do with this bottle of rum. Rum should be enjoyed and savored, not allowed to linger. Yet... what to do when this bottle of rum is gone? I likely shant get another like it.
Perplexing.

I am curious as to what you have discovered on the matter of Protege's and Patrons. I myself am considering the attempt at finding a protege but your words have made me second guess things that seemed plain before. What would I bring to benefit my protege beyond connection to me? What is that even worth to begin with, being so new to Arx? While it would very much benefit me if I did find one that complemented my skills well, the only thing I could offer is protection. Is that enough in a city that has the Iron Guard attending to it?

I quite enjoyed our meeting as well Princess. It was I can say the most interesting day I have had since my coming to this city. I am glad to learn more of my Eurusi history and heritage if such is there, and as for the Canines... it is something I already do. I will of course help as I can.
As for Princess Denica, Lady Carita, and Lady Monique... I think we /both/ owe all three. Just to be safe and make sure nobody is left out.

I am pleased with what I have encountered in Arx so far. It has been an adventure in new experiences and new budding friendships so far.
For the most part I have enjoyed the company of those I have met and each new introduction feels like a doorway on a trip with a new destination each time.
I was also invited to a Gala but I do not know whom I should ask to accompany me. If any at all.
Hopefully my commission for acceptable clothing will be finished in time. Even if that will do nothing for my lack of dancing skills.

Upon arriving to Arx I was lucky enough to hear of a duel and able to attend, I am not sure what it was fought over, but one thing is certain: The fighters in this city are skilled. Very skilled. I will need to resume training to do my House proud and safeguard it's needs and desires should I be called upon to do my duty.
