Time has flown so fast. The seasons have changed. Some things remain the same and yet, there is change as the dance of life continues. The late autumn sunshine is a bit dimmer for me today, not quite so brilliant even if it lacks true warmth.

This one is a rising star amongst the glittering throng of Whisper House and I shall enjoy watching her as that glow of hers brightens all the more. I see nothing but dazzling and wonderful things in her future. Whisper House is lucky to count her amongst their newest apprentices.

Lady Acantha's archery tournament was a wonderful experience. Granted I had no idea when I was invited to accompany a certain Prince, who shall remain nameless, that I would be competing in said tournament myself! I haven't held a bow in my hands since I was but a wee girl and the instructors back at Farhaven thought maybe if I wasn't suited for a spear or a sword, I'd be better suited to take up a bow instead. Gods and spirits did I ever prove them to be wrong. It just isn't for me and that's fine because there are plenty of others who find their calling in such pursuits. Lady Zoey Kennex was so kind as to allow me the honor of using one of her bows - this gorgeous recurve that had no reason to be found in my unskilled hands, but there it was.
And there I was.
It was embarrassing. I could barely pull the string back and the arrow. Lille actually gave me some help with getting the arrow notched right. As for the arrow's flight? Well, it landed not quite at my feet but not too far enough away either that I even made the target. Regardless, it was something but not something I plan on picking up. Archery is not something within my skill set but I did get to see so many skilled archers compete against one another. Princess Ophelia is a sight to see! It was wonderful getting to meet her and I do so look forward to some tea in the future with her.
All in all, it was a wonderful time spent in the company of some wonderful people, both familiar and new.

I got to spend some time in Keaton Hall with my wonderful and truly amazing protege, Reigna, today. It was a wonderful time spent in conversation over that spicy Mercier tea blend she introduced me to and cookies. I also got to meet Apollo who apparently is a very skilled artisan when it comes to leather and fur goods. I look forward to seeing the beautiful things I am certain he no doubt makes. Winter will be here before I know it and I could use new furs in my wardrobe.
But back to those cookies - Gods and spirits I had heard the rumors about Marie and long have I wondered how true they were. And they are so true! That woman is Jayus blessed with her talents in the kitchen and the fact I got to take back home to the Villa an entire basket - a basket! - of her cookies? I'm speechless at the generosity.
And I am going to enjoy every single one of these cookies.

I am so terribly happy that the Redrain portion of Princess Sabella's grand Taste of Arx event series was a wonderful time! So many faces, both the familiar and the unfamiliar, showed up to celebrate what makes Redrain and its vassals great. I am grateful that both His Grace, Prince Darren, and his esteemed Voices, had the faith in me to pull this off.

Relationship Note on Reigna
I am honored to say that I have taken Marquessa Reigna Keaton as my protege. Hearing about everything Keaton has accomplished - both past and present - was enough to pique my interest in meeting with her and her family, I'm just sorry it took me so long to do so. Reigna is a bright and bold woman with a heart as deep as the sea.
I look forward to cultivating this friendship and relationship with her as her patron. I know we will do amazing things together.

Relationship Note on Enid
A very large and very beautiful piece of craftsmanship came into my possession today. It isn't even that I wasn't expecting its arrival, I was, it was just the fact that the beauty of the display case took my breath away. That distinct touch of care and passion is evident in every aspect of its creation. There is no doubt in my mind that the North can boast a great many things and the beautiful work of art that Enid has created for me is just further proof of this fact. I cannot wait to fill it with more beautiful things created by other talented people of the North for Princess Sabella's Compact-wide event series.
I know exactly who I will turn to for additional functional works of art and gods and spirits I haven't even seen the chest she's making yet!

Gwenna and Lorenzo's wedding reception was held in the Arcadia at Whisper House and it was the most glorious thing ever. I must say that Bliss outdid herself on the decorating as it was like a waking dream. I thought the fact there was icewine was enough but then gods and spirits Nightingale Gianna managed to get this strange looking fountain working. It took me a split-second to realize it was of all things a /chocolate fountain/. Yes, a fountain of melted delicious chocolate! I had heard of such a thing but I thought it was merely a jest. It is real and it is amazing and it is at Whisper House. I would have eaten my weight in melted chocolate if I had stayed any longer but somehow I managed to tear myself away.
Beyond the chocolate and icewine, it was simply wonderful to spend time with my family and friends and celebrate a union of the North and the South. It was all told a magical night spent with my favorite people for the best of reasons.

It is easy to forget that once, long ago, we were allies - elf and dragon and human. We fought side by side against the coming darkness. We did not have to pick and choose which ally we would have, would suit and serve us best. We fought as one, together. We stood as one, together. Each side lost loved ones and friends in the fight against the darkness that sought to destroy us, consume us.
But we won that fight, together.
The Metallics. The Cardians. Elves and humans. Together.
The passage of time has not been easy on any of us and change has come. Loss and grief transformed some. Others may have taken advantage of such loss. The Wheel spins and spins but there was that time when we all fought for what was just and right no matter what our home of origin. All full of hope and courage and fear and doubt but that war was won.
Perhaps it is just a dream of a distant time gone by but there is no shame in dreaming.
But we won that fight, together.

Oh, I heard whispers from my ladies that something was going on at the market, something beautiful and wonderful. So naturally, their conversation got my attention when they mentioned 'brocade' and 'new' and then 'Lycene'. I had to know. Straight away I had Chantilly bring me a bolt of this brocade and by the gods and spirits, I have never seen anything so exquisite! At least not since I laid my eyes upon umbra and aeterna, that is. The feel of the fabric beneath my fingers is just divine! So beautifully woven are the threads and that warm rosy glow of the neodymium just catches my breath. One bolt just wouldn't do, so I had more brought to the villa. How could I not?
Already I am daydreaming up what I shall do with these exquisite bolts that I've come to call my own but this is merely the start of this love affair with such a fabric.

So it seems my brother has finally made his way back to the city after being away for so terribly long. I'm surprised Helena managed to hold in her excitement for a full day before he could surprise me with a visit.
It is so good to know he's back. I just hope he stays longer this time before duty takes him away again.
He still has terrible aim when it comes to throwing snowballs, for that I am fortunate. Poor Lille was not quite as lucky as I.

I am so happy to hear that my cousin has finally wed! Gwenna and Lorenzo are a fine match and I know this will only help strengthen Redrain in the years to come. For them, I wish nothing but the sweetness that life has to offer.

I've spent a great deal of time this week just napping with my cat. I can understand now why he hunts out those slivers of early morning sun and contents himself there until they move and he has to slink across the floor to renew his basking in their warmth. Such a silly thing but he's rather wormed his way into my heart.
Though I think it is very much true what they say about you not owning the cat but the cat owning you.
I suppose this means I belong to him now.

Relationship Note on Agatha
One of my favorite memories from my childhood is braiding my sister Agatha's hair. Getting Aggie to sit still for longer than three minutes is a feat in itself so I would have to be quite clever about it. Sometimes it would be a story woven together from fragments of my day and other times it would be a sweet morsel I tucked into my pocket after dinner or filched from the kitchens during the day.
Once she was suitably distracted I would be able to spend at least an hour gently removing twigs and leaves from her mass of red hair, gently brushing it out with no less than two hundred strokes with my finest hairbrush. A story always worked the best with her despite the tasty treats our cooks came up with during the days. Even if most of it was just me being silly she always listened so patiently to me while letting me braid her hair into something either ordinary or something a bit more fanciful.
It was just lovely to spend such time with my big sister, the two of us alone without any care in the world. I know she humored me for the most part and was perhaps happy to shake those braids loose at the start of the following day but that just goes to show just how large and caring her heart is. I miss those days often enough but I keep the memory of them tucked close to my heart, safe and sound, and think on them when I am at my lowest.

I've been accused of being 'too happy' recently. Is that really a terrible thing? Spring is here and it is my favorite season because the flowers and trees are bursting with life and the sun is warm but not too warm. I can have picnics again at either day or night, depending. I also do not mind the rain.
