Relationship Note on Alistair

What a curious man! Luckily I've never really made the acquaintance of the Inquisition before but I've definitely met High Inquisitor Alistair before when he came to my shop to investigate a string of theft in the neighborhood. I never did find out who stole from me and he mentioned they never found a culprit. Bigger fish to fry and all that. At least he's honest.

So, the kind scholars of Vellichor have informed me that I am 'repeating journal entries'. Thank you for reminding me that my brain is so utterly fuzzy. All I can say to that is if I've repeated an entry about a situation or a person, they've clearly left an impression.

Relationship Note on Esoka

Dame Esoka reached out to me when I was seeking an instructor in Athletics. As a child I had no problems running or climbing trees. Over the years, all of that took a back seat and I focused completely on my work. Being strong and being agile are clearly two different things. She made me run through the woods with her. Just when I was almost out of breath and about to thank her for the rigorous workout, she told me to go climb a tree. I'm not kidding. She told me I should be running two miles twice a day.

Since then, I haven't been able to do the full two miles twice a day but I get in about a mile a day. I hope she's proud of me for the next time we meet!

Relationship Note on Aurora

Little sister, you've come a long way in your skills and I'm so proud to say, you're an exceptional seamstress. Clearly the best of the best. I never thought I would actually own a gown and slippers but when I saw the design in your shop, I couldn't resist. I know you would have given it to me for free, but clearly, it's just sheer perfection and a true work of art.

Just don't tell anyone that I own a gown and slippers and we'll be good.

I spent the day with my mother and my older sister. I knew I was going to regret this because they are so ultra feminine and it is their sole mission in life to make me look as girly as possible. It took my mother, Carys, years to accept the fact that I was not into the things my other sisters were into or even the things she was into. She would fight with me because I wanted to work with my father in the 'stinky' forge rather than in the bakery with her. She even tried to convince me that she and my father do the same thing. "There's fire in the oven, too, you know!" she'd bark at me.

To appease her, I would spend time with her in the kitchen and I've come to realize that I've picked up quite a few things from her that have come in handy lately. It's always interesting to talk to clients about how to keep them well protected and then what cakes pair with what liquors or wine.

Since I've been taking it easy lately and letting the apprentices take over most of the work in the forge, I've been helping my mother around her own shop with some light cleaning and prep work. I now smell like cakes and fire.

My older sister is an apothecary and a healer. She loves flowers. She's the epitome of elegance and grace, at least she is to me. Needless to say, today I left my family house smelling of cakes and fire and dripping in braids and flowers. What has happened to me?!

Har har. I see you're changing professions now and turning in your needlework for a jester's hat.

People always want to know why I decided to be an armorer like my dad and not a baker like my mother or a healer like my oldest sister or even a seamstress like my younger sister. My answer is always the same; Quite simply, I did not choose my passion. It chose me. I decided to pursue it and not ignore it.

My advice to anyone is when you find that one thing that makes your heart race and your palms get sweaty, chase it down and don't let go.

I attended the Memorial for the Lost the other evening and surprised myself by becoming something of a blubbering fool. It wouldn't have been so bad if I were crying in a seat by myself, but, I was standing next to Princess Lark of all people. I always tell my customers they're not allowed to cry because they'll rust and there I go not following my own advice.

Dad's going to be so disappointed.

The distraction. Though I'm really grateful I was the one to get him back into full armor.

Relationship Note on Esoka

Dame Esoka was another tutor this week. We met outside for a spirited run and I realized quickly I am not a runner! Two miles twice a day; that is what she recommends. I'm not a lazy gal, but I'm not sure how I'll be able to accomplish hat goal without passing out first.

So far the morning run has been invigorating. I mean it's shit to get up earlier than usual but once I'm out there and hit a stride, it feels great. The evening run flat out sucks. There is no sugar coating that.

After our run, she made me climb a tree. I thought I might die. It's been years since I've climbed trees but when we reached a sturdy bough and had a moment to talk and look out onto the world from way up high, it put so many things in perspective for me.

I look forward to more training exercises with Dame Esoka in the future.

Relationship Note on Marian

Princess Marian was kind enough to take me under her tutelage. She is focused and determined when it comes to wielding a sword and I greatly admire her for years of dedication she's given to her skills. I'd like to continue training with her if she'll have me and I promise no amount of distraction will pry my eyes off my goal.

I'm going to have to start praying for willpower.

Somedays you're the bird. Other days, the statue.

Today was a rough day of uncomfortable proportions. Thank the gods for whiskey.

I woke up today as I do every other day to a full schedule of metal work. I followed this by having a drink or two because after being in a hot sweaty forge all day, that's the one thing that really takes the edge away. That and it's damned delicious. What I didn't expect was to have an intense and involved lesson with Princess Marian while Lord Armand played the perfect distraction.

Damn those good looking men who like to douse their shirts with water until it clings to every rippling muscle and becomes see-through. How is a girl supposed to learn how to handle a sword with all that running around?

Relationship Note on Arn

Duke Telmar is an interesting man. I can't say I've spent a lot of time with him but he came to my shop with a heap ton of metal and basically said "Make me armor that looks like this." Basically he's got a thing for red brick walls.

So that's what I'm working on. I've heard he becomes disappointed quickly. Let's hope he's not too disappointed with my work.

Relationship Note on Ferrando

Today is your birthday. We are officially the same age again! It's been a hell of a lot of fun planning out all the little things to put into your birthday celebration and I swear I've never challenged myself as much as I did to make that seafood paella. I never thought I'd ever cook for a guy let alone care enough for him to actually like it. Just don't get any ideas. I won't be trading the forge for the kitchen. You'd probably look better in an apron anyhow.

I might have to get Aurora to make you one with a snazzy phrase across the bib.

Work has been for a lack of better words, extremely busy. It makes me beyond thrilled to have so many commissions and seeing so many folks come into the shop to work with the apprentices. I've been working with metal all day and then slipping off to my mother's bakery to help her with another commission there. The mix of scents is positively nauseating but she appreciates the extra hands.

I never realized how similar baking confectionaries and forging armor can be. Maybe I'm more like my mama than I thought.

Relationship Note on Edain

Prince Edain came to me when he had this amazing idea for a Tournament of Roses. He knew I was skilled in working with Diamondplate and I'm always up for working with this luxurious metal whenever I can. He wanted a helm; A super fancy, super brilliant helm for the jousting tournament's champion and I've got to say, it is probably one of my best helms, ever. I do not always get the chance to add plumes on the top, but this specific design called for it. Red, one of my hallmark colors set against the absolute perfection of diamondplate was a vision of beauty if I've ever seen one.

It was really all Prince Edain's idea. He's got an eye for design even if he denies it. We also crafted these championship belts with the help of Master Oliver Coldrain.

I look forward to working with the High Lord of Sanctum again in the future.

Relationship Note on Agnarr

So Agnarr is this interesting fellow I met one night at the Grotto. I probably won't first that first encounter...ever. He came to me recently with an order for rubicund gauntlets. The messenger handed me this rather large folder and when I opened it, the draft nearly scrolled out of my hands. It was a diagram of his very own gargantuan hands.

You know what they say about a man with ginormous hands right?

Ginormous gauntlets! That's right. Well they are finished and I gotta say I'm pretty proud of them. If you see Agnarr and he's wearing his rubicund gauntlets, you should totally take a gander at them. Impressive!

He told me not to spend all my money on Libertia

Holy shitballs I've been so busy lately but you know what? It's amazing. I love what I do. I love working with metal and crafting amazing suits of armor. It's my life's passion. It's the only thing I ever want to do my whole life. The downside is sometimes I stink like forge, or so I've been told. I think my sense of smell is fried except for when I hit the back room and the heat and acrid tinge of smelted metal fills the air. It's nice to be recognized and even the apprentices have been busy. I'm just so very thankful and blessed.
