Only in this city will a blood sorcerer who aims to do human sacrifice will be hailed as a flawless hero. He may be heroic, but those are some glaring flaws.

Relationship Note on Shard

You speak as though shavs measure life as something sacred.

I have seen shavs kill babies. An entire village's worth of babies, in fact.

I have seen shavs spear the mothers of these babies through, leaving their corpses supported against the weapons that killed them.

I have seen more as a child than any child should ever had to.

Yet, I'm still alive. I'm alive and I chose this profession so it never happens to another village again, if I can help it.

I understand your angle just fine, Prodigal. But remember that: you're a citizen of the Compact.

If the alternative was any better, don't you think you'd have stayed a shav?

Relationship Note on Meriah

I'm not going to play at compassion for people who have done to me, personally, what they have done to countless others. Neither should you. I feel no empathy for them.

If you act like a rabid animal, expect to be treated like a rabid animal. Nothing more, nothing less.

I leave diplomats to do diplomacy. When their heads inevitably get impaled on boar spears as a warning, that's where 'serious killers' come in.

To get the job that should get done in the first place.

People making excuses for Abandoned. A good shav is a dead shav. If they pillage, they raid and they kill, they deserve to be put down like dogs. Leave the others alone, but don't make the mistake of feeling empathy for the destroyers of good Compact lives.

Relationship Note on Eleyna

It is not about getting anything back. What is lost is lost. Gone forever.

It is about the satisfaction they who took your loved ones can never do it ever again.
