In not so many days, the reasons for hosting the Masquerade at the Menagerie have fallen into question, doubt, and confusion. I am bewildered, but can adjust. Any good leader can.
Regardless, this city needs a fun party where people can let loose and enjoy themselves and truly be themselves. Masks allow you such a freedom! So the show must go on, I'll worry about the accounting later on.

The Guildmaster has put in that she is willing to donate to the Masquerade ball too! GOSH! This is going to be an event you /don't/ want to miss. Though I'm certainly not surprised to get a message from Joscelin about the Ball, she's a kind charitable soul that is always look to help a good cause. While I've never met the man, the caliber of his character shows in that he offered to donate items or his time to the Menagerie Masquerade Ball. That speaks well for this craftsman and I am looking forward to seeing a sample of his work at the Ball!! How thrilling!

I look back at all the events I've attended and hosted, and realized my favorite of all them was the Menagerie Masquerade. It was just a lot of fun, raised funds for a good purpose - which was to revitalize the Menagerie - and I could be whoever I wanted to be underneath the mask. It opened doors to new friendships and new relationships that I wouldn't have had otherwise.
Though this year, I'm hosting it for an entirely different reason than to rebuild the Menagerie. It's for the gardeners who lost their lives doing what they loved and how they lost their lives is a mystery that we will not let go unquestioned. Also, the Lodge of Petrichor has come under attack recently, a project I assisted with was trying to fortify it and build it stronger and safer for those who use it. The funds will go into ensuring we can continue that work.
Hopefully people will have as much fun with it as the first time we ran the masquerade. It's in a different location of the Menagerie this year, though we're prepared with canvas walled tents, lots of hot coca, and plenty of firepits to keep people warm throughout the event! That or the guests should need to use the dance floor to keep themselves warm. I recommend finding a superb dance partner for the evening too!
Most of all, I'm excited to see the masks and the gowns! So exciting.

While our marriage was dutifully arranged for political ties between our houses, I have come to know this woman now, as my wife. House Grayson honored me more than I ever knew by delivering me into this marriage contract, a Blessing by the Gods I swear it. I will always be a Prince of the GraySon by blood, but now I'm rising to be a Duke of the Falcons and feeling the Rubino pride swelling in me, and GODS it feels so good to SOAR!! It is a strange happy feeling that someone trusts in my decisions and opinions, acknowledges my ideas and wants to implement them! It's incredible what it does to my confidence to be asked how I would handle a situation or what I would do and then be allowed to handle it. Grazia, I couldn't ask for a better wife - how did I get so lucky to marry such a woman? I'm at a loss why the whole of Arx wasn't fighting for your hand? BUT their LOSS and my eternal gain! My brother chose well for me and making father proud will be an easy task with you at my side. Our future looks truly golden. I am so glad you chose to fly with me.

My dear friend Nisaa. It's been a while since we crossed paths, much to my dismay. Though she's one of those friends that if distances grows prolonged, whenever it is that you get back together, nothing will seem amiss. I'm proud to retain her as my protege and am looking forward to all the good she can do, although I know we were both struck by personal tragedies in the war, I love this woman as a dear friend. I couldn't be more proud of her. And goodness, she's probably one of the BEST models in all of Arx!

It's been over a month now that Lady Kenna Whitehawk has been my protege. I have so much pride to see her take flight on her own and often times I am coming to her for help, in matters of economics. It helps she's also a social butterfly where I am not. I couldn't be happier to work with her, it keeps my connection to House Whitehawk stronger than ever.

My friend,
You should see the city-state - but I'm sure you have, maybe when you were younger. Mostly likely then. You lived close enough to it. I regret that it wasn't anything I ever asked you. Far too many questions went unasked, but, I'll tell you right now it is quite different than Arx or even Bastion. It's grand in it's own way. The buildings and the architect down here, I mean, with the stone quarries they have, it's quite magnificent. A few of them caught my breath. Still, there is a vibe down here that is peculiar, I can't quite put my finger on it, maybe it's like when ravens and seagulls are far too close to one another. Maybe I was imagining it.
Ahh, the weeks I've spent down here, haven't been terrible. After the last few excursions I went on, this seems like a holiday. The beauty here comes from its people. The landscape is vastly different from what I'm used too, quite a lot of rocks. I can imagine quite a few sea birds come this way to nest. There's such a diversity though, in everything here. It is on the edge of the Compact and is close enough to the sea that travelers come through Southport, that it's not surprising to see a variety of tabards from other parts of the world. Still, the looks I get from people! Lady Eirene may have been right. Half of them I swear I shouldn't turn my back on. I really should've spoken to you more about Lycene ways when I had the chance.
Though somehow I suspect I'll have the rest of my life to learn precisely how to navigate. Still, my aim is to return to the Saiklands soon, in a more official capacity than being your children's godparent. A rum lifted to you tonight, my friend. From the tables of Gemecitta.

The time I have been spending in Gemecitta has been an experience. I've never traveled this far south before and honestly it's a little too hot for me, though I'm sure I'll learn to love it. I'm looking forward to returning to Arx to see everyone, but for now, I am learning the ropes of life as Duke-Consort, which mostly involves getting to know Gemecitta's people and sitting through a few tutoring sessions. All is well. The birds love it down here.

It should have been you that lifted up your daughter and your son with pride and joy in your eyes, but it had been me, as you asked me to. I admit life has been awfully busy of late, preparing for my own wedding, yet, I would not forget my promise to look after them. Your wife invited me along and I could not keep myself from going, which is why I've been away from Arx - a little unexpectedly I do say. I hope my betrothed doesn't think I had cold feet and slipped away!
Ahh Estaban, if only we could talk as we used to. I'd tell you that your daughter has your eyes and your son, has your damned good looks and I can tell he'll have that same mischievous smirk. He's already got the nursemaids wrapped around his little finger. Lucita picked good names for them too. Your daughter carries your name and your son, well, we both know that Killian was our friends. I'm sure he's smiling up there with you. As for the second name for your son, I'm very touched by the request you made of your wife to name him what you did.

Still, where ever you are now, I'll stand by them and teach them what their father knew and what he loved. I am not the best sailor, but you taught me enough to teach them.
