Relationship Note on Victus

I've crossed paths a couple of times with this Thrax lord, and regardless of his brusque demeanor, I find myself taking a liking to him. He is blunt, gruff, but honest in his feelings. There is a grudging respect between us, I've noticed, and I'm sure it has to do with my experience fighting the Abandoned back in the Lyceum. On my end, I can respect his strength and no-nonsense approach to life.

Relationship Note on Victus

While Maximilian thinks that Victus is plagued with the temperament all the young Thraxians of this generation are, he also feels Victus is the most practical of House Thrax next to Donrai himself. For these reasons and because of Victus taking Maximilian under his wing when the Darkwater Count first became a man grown, Maximilian is quite fond of Victus and is more then happy to join him in any kind of situation, social or otherwise.

The kind of good natured that would worry me back in Lyceum

Relationship Note on Victus

Victus. What can I say about the man? He's brash, rude, vulgar, violent. I could go on, but there are qualities about him that do redeem him. He wants what is best for Thrax and he is a skilled fighter. If I could convince him that honor and chivalry are virtues that will make him a better man instead of things to be scoffed at or beliefs for fops, he might be a forbiddable man.

Relationship Note on Victus

Where to start? Truth be told, it's not hard to see why Alarissa felt a little uneasy around this man. He seems the sort who'd have been perfectly at home during a bonfire with my father's tribe after a successful raid, with a few severed tongues and ears and fingers hanging from his belt. Maybe moreso at home than he is surrounded by silks and titles. Lord Victus Thrax is an entirely different beast from every sort of noble I've thus far encountered. ...Granted, I've less than a decade of dealing with nobles under my belt and all of that limited to Sanctum until recently...still. Going from just hearing stories about soft Compact nobles and fighting shiny-plated Valardin Knights, to life with Valen in Sanctum, surrounded by everything Valardin and chivalrous...To the capital, where I'm just now getting my first real taste of the Compact's diversity, Victus is a sort of beast I'm unfamiliar with. And..yet /am/ familiar with. If he's half as hard as he seems to be, maybe the rest of the Compact isn't as utterly soft and hopeless as I'd feared.

Relationship Note on Victus

I'm glad Victus exists. Without him, grandfather might freak about about how no one in the family is Thraxian enough, and that could lead to drastic measures. Of course, he might just have Victus kill us all. Let's hope it doesn't come to that.

Relationship Note on Victus

With Alessandra's disappearance, Victus is now something of a brute. I am not convinced he knows NOTHING of his disappearance, but I would also be shocked if his brain truly has been brined to worthlessness. He will have to be handled in political situations. Generally by someone other than me.

Relationship Note on Victus

This Lord of Thrax is an uncouth barbarian more suited to piracy than representing his House. He is a weapon to be wielded; who thought he would be an asset at court or the Assembly of Peers?

I think I would like him during his good moods. I wonder if he has any.

What I would love beyond all else is to see him in a social situation where he has no choice but to attempt the niceties. Can he form sentences without cursing? Does he know the purpose of a fork? These mysteries and more will only be laid to rest should the day come when a command from his liege forces him to care.

I hope I'm there to see it.

Relationship Note on Victus

I've seen Victus in the training yard a few times now, he's obviously capable and strong as a bull, but really needs to work on developing that personality. I suppose nobody hires a Thraxian for their charm.

Relationship Note on Victus

I'll never forget the moment I first saw him - hair glistening in the bright summer sun, spilling water all down his beard. And then he lifted his shirt. If that wasn't enough, he knows just what's required for a proper conversation: listening to me.

Relationship Note on Victus

Curious bear, isn't he? Laughs sometimes at strange things. He grows on you a bit, doesn't he? Like a fungus, or moss on the trees, annoying but vaguely pretty. Shame he's Thraxian, don't you think?

Relationship Note on Victus

If all Thraxian men are like this one, it's a wonder they have any sort of lands at all. He's a bit infuriating.

Relationship Note on Victus

Victus killed Margot's father and in the moment he did so he irrevokably changed the trajectory of both of their lives. For it he was plucked from the common masses and made Lord Victus, acknowledged officially as a nefew of Prince Donrai, and in the same moment she was stripped of her family, her lands, and her potential influence as a Duke's daughter. Still, what Margot has against Victus is not that he killed her father, no, he was a soldier and he did his job, for all his success at it she can't hold that against him. No, what grates on her is that Victus is so utterly ungrateful for his position within the Thrax family and so utterly unwilling to behave as if he's even remotely deserving of such. It's a disgrace to Thrax, Tyde and all the isles. On on hand he acts as if he's strong and ruthless but he takes no hand in his own fate beyond his complaints about the conditions and expectations that come with his station. Briefly Margot entertained the prospect that both as outsiders in the family there was a potential for an alliance between them she realizes now that there is nothing to be gained from Victus. All she can hope for now is to curtail the damage he may do to the faily with his churlish nonsense.

Relationship Note on Victus

I never knew my parent's cousin well, Victus. An illegitimate child, he likely felt just out of place as I did among House Thrax, but he proved his mettled by ending the Thrax Rebellion. I can understand the desire to prove oneself all too well, but I fear his path took him down a road that can only lead to brutality rather than honor.
