Relationship Note on Joscelin

Dear Josie:

Like the leaves that bud in spring only to turn to colors of flame before they fall in autumn;
Like the coast that changes its curves with the pounding of the waves over time;
Like the rain that turns to snow in the cold of winter;
Like our faces that slowly become etched by every emotion it expresses though our lives;

Change is constant, it is unavoidable. It is on the horizon, and shadows that loom over us could destroy so much we hold dear. It is truth. Even when we win the war, for we will, we will have great loss to recover from, in many ways. So what choices can we make now, with so much potential for dark times ahead? What choices do we make now that we can hold fast to in the aftermath?

We make the choices that give us reasons to fight. We make the choices that give us the determination to survive. We make the choices that allow us to enjoy our every single day between now and then as best as we can make it; full of love and happiness, friendship and even romance. We make the choices to hold the darkness at bay however long we can, by embracing these things that make us feel light. If the choice now means enough to us as all that.....

...they will be the ones we are still holding onto when we begin to rebuild.

That is most certainly not what happened; if you knew--

It is true, Percephon, her cheeks were as red as the rubicund Sir Thorley won for being the last man standing. I saw him take his other prize.... I even applauded.

To be fair, she seemed quite eager to give him that prize too.

Oh well now I'm jealous.

All she gave me what a night that I can't remember.

Happy birthday my dearest friend! I shall join you at 35 in 17 days. Though I will be the one to bring the sweets! Seems only fair.

If you're not hollering at them, how do they know you're not asleep?

If you can't hear them over the hollering, we should all wonder who taught them how to project their voice?

If you don't cat-call Jareth, he'll start to question his ability as an actor. Are you trying to hurt people's feelings?

You've no idea. Complicated is a very polite way to say it though, ain't it?

Can't imagine the Lowers wit' out dem though.

It's a fine thing to hope for, that in times of war, folk will set aside petty feuds and come together as one, as their best selves.

The way things are, though, is that most folk ain't their best selves they spend all their time worried and anxious. Often takes folk the other way instead.

The way of things.

Imagine my surprise that my grumped muses on this thing would bring such pleasantness to my door in the form of a small tin of balm and a thoughtful note from Guildmaster Joscelin Arterius. After reaching out to thank her for the gift, we met and spoke at length. And what had started off as small talk extended into a long evening of sharing things I thought noone would care to hear.

I look forward to more time in her presence and company.

Though she keeps trying to offer me to Ida.

You mentioned how all Valardins seem so tall! Upon meeting Thorley, I believe? I, too, am a vaguely tall Valardin! So I was trying to think of something clever to say about it, but...well. I'm better with hammer and fist than quippery, apparently.

Hooray! At first I was unsure about the colors of the chairs, but they rather grew on me! There are baskets underneath to hold bottles, too. Just saying.

Also, I feel like I should make some sort of witty remark about tall Valardins here, but alas, words fail me. Apparently I should get out more.

I finally got around to having rocking chairs made, because nothing quite says 'badass artist' like a crafter sitting in a rocking chair in front of their shop.

I don't much care for that smirk, scholar, so we are clear.

I should have more made, though in different colors maybe, now that I think on it.

When it's time again for war, I enjoy the occasion clip of jewelry in my hair. Something of a fetish item, like a totem or uh... ya know, metaphorical symbolical shiny shitty shit shit.

I'm just making a suggestion that if I were to find some new ones sometime soon, my pockets might end up becoming a little lighter.

He deserved it.

More than Oliver did.

The banning.

I can't say to whether he deserved throwing his hand and his thigh onto my sewing needle a few times. I can't possibly think about what he was thinking when he did that.

No, no -- providing clarification. Please, see your entry on Mae.

If you were a flower, Joscelin, you would be the one that blooms practically in any season. Like a chrysanthemum. Thankfully, you (and everyone else) is much more complicated and diverse to be compared to a single type of flowering plant.

Reading Joscelin's description of a crocus was like reading a love poem, meant to woo one's heart. Is it any wonder she makes the most exquisite jewelry when her mere words are art in themselves?

Mistress Joscelin is aver well practiced with flattery. Crocus are beautiful little flowers-- your prose however is delightful. I would say there was colour in my cheeks for reading it, but for being such a hapless blusher at the best of times that rather goes without saying.

And I do so love purple.
