Another u busy week. I'm getting to see more of the city. This week included my first visits to the grotto and managerie and a return visit to Mercier's tea shop which I really enjoy. even on social outings, I learn important things like the fact that i need to learn to relax more and enjoy the experience of the moment. All around me i saw people taking part in simple please the braiding of hair, the soaking of shoulders and the warmth of hot tea. i wonder how many such things I miss with my head constantly caught in some puzzle. I saw a man have his first experience with tea. I found a bit of amusement at his consternation I confess but he seemed a good sort and each person there gave advice. I've had countless new experiences since ariving in arx but tea and pastry i've long since taken for granted and i found I could not recall my first taste of it. I must not let such moments pass me by as i experience my firsts and always be prepared to question even my simplest assumptions for it never once occurred to me that someone could reach adulthood without having sampled hot tea. as open-minded as I believe myself to be even i hold unquestioned assumptions. an important lesson.

This week I met with Cahal Blackram regarding his idea for a crop sharing program among the houses in the oathlands the event of a crop shortage such that should one experience a shortage their nearest neighbor would send the majority of their food stores and then the other houses would reimburse th neighbor giving a small percentage. i've agreed to help him recruit. journal/write This was the week for social events and meeting lots of new people. First, the Valaridin Family dinner. The princesses all seem quite nice. Then there was the festival of death pet parade. I never attended a more unique event but everybody there seemed lovely as well and i can't forget the chance meet wit Veronica Keaton and Insaya Bergere. It all reminds that arx has wonderful people and we can get through whatever comes together

So something really neat happened this week. I met a guy in the great archives. Well, ok I didn't meet him for the first time in the great archives. I met him at the Ambassador salon and then asked if I could accompany him when he visited the great archives. He's new in town and and a layer and he likes research so well the archives was a natural suggestion, especially when I asked him what his vocation was and he said serch for truth. That actually came out of a mouth other than mine. So anyway we just walked around and talked and it was really nice. i can't wait to see him again

I paid a visit to seaborn weaponry this week and had an intersting conversation with brothrr felix about magic blades. I look forward to speaking to him again but i must find a means to compensate the man for his trouble

It was pleasant to join in some social events this week. A lively conversation at the salon and an all too brief stop at the bard's college aniversary. Bawdy jokes and on on hand. High society splendor on the other. And yet mention of the troubles in arvum. were literally but a breath away. Talk of the recent riots in both locations. i'm saddened by how callous some nobles appear to be with regarf to the troubles of the common folk. the enjoy the comfort and privlege of the station without regard to do. How is one to live a meaningful life without the latter. Surely I could not

The recent riots were disheartening and destruction. The frustration is justified. I am proud of the nobles taking it o upon themselves to ease the burdens faced by the common people. this is the right thing to do. My first family meeting. It was nice to get better aquainted with the the family. Marquessa Dominique and nd Princess Sorrel both know a great deal and were kind enough to share. I've been tasked with asking the other Valardin Banners for aid in defending Blancbier. I hope I am up to the task.

It's been an interesting few weeks though I can't say I've been as useful as I hoped, I've had several interesting social experiences. I sometimes feel out of place though not enough to be turly uncomfortable Admiral Strozza's mobile bar for instance was quite a surprise. I know most are fond of drink and it's not something i hold against folks. it's not a moral compunction against such so much as my own desire to keep a clear head that keeps me from imbibing myself. I quite enjoy social company and feel others should enjoy themselves as they choose. Still, a porting multiple bottles of liquor plus table to the training arena was a bit out of ken. Speaking of said arena, i feel like I'm the only one who doesn't indulge in physical contest. I do agree with lord gaspard that learning some sort of physical defense, but I view in terms of practicality in being able to safely adventure the real with my brothers versus sport

My first week in Arx, mostly spent in quiet visits with family. Drake and richard are well but have many duties to keep them occupied. Drake did promise to take me shopping the next time he needs a present for his lady friend. I met Marquessa dominique. She was pleasant but guard which is the proper mein for a head of house I wager
