The weight he bears is so much more poignant when one stops to consider that in a better world, a fairer world, he never would have had to bear it at all. In the face of so much loss, a man that isn't allowed to give himself over to mourning must find the source of his strength, and gather it close by whatever means necessary. Would that Alis and I could distract him so easily now as when we were children.

Sometimes even honorable men are assholes. Sometimes, it is honor that makes them so. Prince Edain is more than boring, as the Valardin so often are -- he is /offputting/. He makes my skin crawl! Our Houses have never loved one another. I see no reason that should ever change.

Prince Edain is a light in the darkness, his good-cheer and endless supply of syrup-laden treats sure to deliver a smile no matter what mood I'm in or trouble I've caused. He's got his serious side as well, and I certainly wouldn't ever want to be on the wrong side of his ire, but I certainly look forward to learning more about him while I'm here in Arx.

He confided in me something that was never meant to be spilt from my lips, let alone in the halls of the Redrain villa surrounded by all who dared hear me - the fragile bond of an alliances forged upon the like similarities of the travesties that devastated our families respectively. That bond has since withered by my hand, but not unsalvagaeble; he gifted me a chance at redemption, and it is a challenge I shall conqeur with honor and valour all in due time.

Prince Edain Valardin, High Lord of Valardin. Nadia has only met the man on a few brief occassions, but his obsession to see maple syrup invade every aspect of the economic market marks him as interesting in her eyes. Certainly, there's quite more to it than that, but maple syrup is his business passion and she can't help but find the chaste dragon to be quite adorable when he speaks so passionately about it or the tales of old about the White Dragons and how they rode out to conquer and vanquish foe alike. It's just a shame that, like her, life has forced him into a mantle of leadership long before he ever wanted it. Despite this, he seems to be adjusting well as time goes on, and for this she feels a kindred soul to him.

High Lord Edain Valardin has a lot on his plate. Unexpected death dumped leadership of the Valardin into his lap, just like it did to my brother. He's very nice, noble and gracious, and deserves to smile and relax every now and then. I've made it my personal mission to make this knight let his hair down every once in a while. Shadow is a lot faster than Sir Arugula, but I try not to rub it in his face. I can't help that Redrain horses are so agile.

I worry for the Prince. While there is ample need throughout Arvum for a perfect knight, I read enough family to my daughter to know what happens to them. They can soar to the highest height, or just as if not more often they fall to the ground below. Still, conscience and a genuine desire to see our better virtues prevail are not fatal flaws. It is simply a matter of insuring that he comes to wield men in peace and in war the same way he wields a sword...Gods help me if I am the one who must provide the instruction.

I've still not managed to catch Edain alone, or when we both have a great deal of time to speak. We've chatted in passing, but not in detail, and I've chatted with other family about him. Alis, Aurelian, Alarissa, everything I've seen and heard about Edain so far, he seems to be living up to what the family needs him to be. I will be here to help him as best as I can, as Valen would have, if he were still here.

When young girls close their eyes and think of a prince, I believe Prince Edain is exactly the sort of charming they imagine might ride in with his sword and shield and save them from the monsters in this world. Would that all the houses were so noble we would never need fight amongst ourselves.

Prince Edain is an enigma, so many nobles, especially from the Great Houses, assume their superiority and privileged. Perhaps Edain does as well but he retains a degree of humility and seems to be genuinely doing his best to do good in the world. What more can be asked of anyone?

Oh, bless his heart, Prince Edain just has no concept of how to handle Velenosa women. He's noble, handsome, virtuous... stuffy, slightly pompous, and daft. He will be a long term project, so hopefully he can stop making Esera livid with him by breathing. A very, very long term project.

When the day comes that he has to make a hard choice, is he going to choose his beloved fucking Chivalry and Honor and Glory, or is he going to choose what's best for him and his accursed House? If he does the first, he's a fucking idiot. If the does the latter, he's been a fraud and a liar his whole fucking life. Hard choices come for everybody, and that's a fucking fact of life.
He's better with his sword than I'd thought, though, I'll give him that. He could have yielded when I first put him down on a knee, but he didn't. No, he kept fighting until he couldn't, and that deserves a bit of respect.

Prince Edain Valardin is a man that I hope to one day call a friend. I know that friendships between Valardin and Thrax are a rare thing, but I believe we have similar notions of honor and chivalry, and I respect that about him. Perhaps a tighter bond could be fashioned some day? Who's to say. For now I will do what I can to help build that friendship.

I haven't seen His Grace since tragedy struck, truth be told I haven't seen much of anyone. Just recalling the silly, exasperated look on his face when Sir Arugala tossed him off, or the determination on his features in the training center... I hope recent events haven't stolen away his expressiveness. That's often the worst part of these things, the way people sometimes seem to shut down, guarded against letting one in.

I met Edain at the Ambassador quite by chance, he was very sympathetic to my plight, both the hang over and the frustrations with trade negotiations. Still I wonder, is he really as kind as he seems? Can someone so seemingly nice and guileless really survive let alone prosper as a High Lord?

Prince Edain Valardin is the epitome of excellence and grace. The man has such exquisite manners and he is more than just a handsome face. He told me about his love of Falconry. Perhaps I should't have been surprised but I was. I thought he would have talked more about sword fighting, battle, or politics but he did not delve into those subjects. Like many newly arrived nobles, he is excited to make new acquaintances and I couldn't agree more with him. I am excited to learn more about Prince Edain, his family, and House Valardin on a whole.

Edain believed in me when others doubted me and attempted to dissuade me. Even if my vows as a knight did not require my absolute obedience to my liege, I would serve him with without question or complaint. But I worry about him. My brother is a good and idealistic young man and already shows the strain of his newfound duties. Of course I shall aid him in any way I can.
