On Metaplot Secrets

Posted by Puffin on 07/10/18
Hey folks!

Lately we've spent a lot of time writing cool metaplot secrets for characters who roster or go inactive or just decide not to play the character. And then we've spent that time on secrets that will never be in play again, which is said.

So, going forward please if you take a new character from the roster, or make a new character, we're going to ask that you play for 1 month before requesting for a secret if they don't have one already. It's not that we don't want you to be involved in the metaplot, it's that we've found it takes about that long for people to get their feet under them, to figure out some of what they like and don't like, and to have an idea where they'd like to get more involved.

And then when you do request for a secret, if you could put in something that you like, and/or things you don't like at all. Like, for example, if you definitely want to play something on the Good side of the moral compass, and maybe you think the Gray Forest and Orichalcum plotline are interesting, you could say - "Hey, I'm interested in a metaplot secret, and right now it really feels like the Gray Forest stuff is interesting. Can you give me something to sink my teeth into there, keeping in mind that I definitely am wanting to stay on the side of good?"

As opposed to: "I just got this character and I'm not sure what a metaplot secret is but I was told I totally want one, so please could I have one?"

If you have a secret request in the queue already we'll be happy to add it, but moving forward we'd like you to get a little more comfortable, know the character, and make sure you're going to keep playing them before we take the time to write a metaplot secret. We're happy you're here and we're happy to write them for you, but we hope they'll get used and not just sit there on inactive characters forever.

Thanks!
