Under the guidance of Lord Harald Grimhall and Lady Regla Navegant, ships set for, headed north for the abandoned islands near Escuma. These combined fleets under Count Turo split as they near the island proper, with Lord Harald's heading west and Lady Regla's landing on the south side of the island. Lord Harald's forces make landing and swiftly disembark, setting up patrols and a perimeter quickly. They go unchallenged by even the random shav, who seem content to watch from security far off. Meanwhile, Lady Regla's landing is not so smooth. Perhaps those who are more inclined to physically express their displeasure at these colonizing forces are in the south, because random skirmishes as her infantry attempts to establish a perimeter are sudden and brutal. Of course, Lady Regla's forces are far superior, but there are a small number of casualties during the incursion. They take the time to bury their dead and then everyone is established, with Harald's forces working to establish a base and Regla's moving to sweep out from the shore in patrols.

Lady Regla's forces sweep across the island under the command of Lord Valdemar Grimhall. He is clearly uncomfortable on this island and starts out slowly, but as he grows more comfortable, so too does he grow bolder. And when they are attacked by shavs, Lady Merida Grimhall leads the way in battle with a fury. By now, they've patrolled a good portion of the island and they're close enough to the site of the future stronghold that someone on the wall pauses as Merida lets loose a fierce battle cry and looks around. "Do you hear that? Huh." And so it goes.

Back on the east side of the island the initial walls are finished and, under the narrowed eyes of Sameera Coldrain, the organization of the camp is swift and efficient. Everyone will soon have a place to sleep, and the cook is even now directing the preparation of camp food. It's no Club Grayson, but they'll be warm and full tonight, and that's certainly progress.

In the days after the establishment of the initial fort and once the shav incursions have dwindled, a trio of intrepid diplomats set forth. Lady Titania Kennex, Lady Melinda Grimhall, and Edward Redreef journey forth to meet with the shavs. As they approach, the shavs seem willing to meet with them, particularly when Titania attempts to speak their language. Lady Melinda is trying her best, making headway (or so she thinks) but something doesn't feel right. Maybe it's something as simple as Titania's accent. Or perhaps it's that Edward seems to be less interested in the financial benefits of their potential bargain, and darkly refers to 'their lives' as a bargaining chip on the table. For whatever reason, talks stall and they are politely but firmly escorted to the edge of the village for the shavs to "talk about things before coming to an informed decision." Apparently there is some mistranslation here though, because by "talking about things" what they meant was "disappearing into the night." The next patrol of the island will find tracks leading to an inlet, and the remains of what was likely tethers for a small army of personal boats that helped the shav flee the island entirely. The diplomats didn't anger them, but there are no shav to bend knee and bolster Grimhall-Navegant forces, either. As a final indignity, the gifts from the joint invaders are gone as well.

Over the next weeks and months, the fort is slowly stabilized. With the joint work of the Grimhall-Navegant forces (along with a Kennex assist), a more permanent structure is built. Not long after, crafters and fishermen start to arrive - Lady Caelis Malvici has started assisting Eventually, this will be a - well, let's be honest. Eventually this is going to be another sea-swept home in the Isles, not exactly the lap of luxury, but the Grimhall-Navegant forces will have another toehold in the northern Isles.
