Another major actor in preventing shortages and starvation is the Black Mountain Trading Company. While the Head Administrator recently died after the arrival of the Kraken's Kin, her old trading company does a great amount of work in making certain that run away inflation does not make food costs unbearable, subsidizing the market to keep the cost of food low. While it's subtle, the commoners fearing starvation are keenly aware that the outreach efforts of the Faith, Black Mountain, highlords and many others make sure the siege does not turn ugly, and the deceased Ianthe is giving a great deal of posthumous credit for it. While many in the city never heard of Ianthe Artusio before her death, her name will be remembered fondly as one of the heroines of the siege, even if she didn't live to see it.
