As part of the Thirteen Hammers Operation, as the campaign has become known, a major diplomatic effort to see Abandoned bend the knee is spearheaded by Duchess Margot Tyde. Lady Simone is able to relate a moving story of her marrying into House Greenmarch, and how much it has helped the new prodigals that have become her family. Lady Arcelia is grace and charm, and speaks at eloquent length about the benefits of joining the Compact. Duchess Margot Tyde sees Julea Sanguine marry the Abandoned of Eswynd, and establishes a new march of House Eswynd sworn to House Tyde. And Lord Harald Grimhall and his escorting soldiers brutally crush a few abandoned who have untoward thoughts towards the diplomats. The combination of silk glove and brutally over the top iron fist with many spikes coming out of it convince a significant amount of Abandoned to bend the knee- Houses Thrax Grimhall, Tyde, Kennex, Darkwater all make some territorial gains.
